Hi everyone, I would love to use the password lock screen but the thing is the phone doesn't allow you to lock it after a certain idle time. I was looking at my friend's atrix, it let him chooses like 5, 10, 15 min idle time before it requires the pw again. is there anyway i can turn the function on? will rooting the phone works?

+1 This is a major drag, the screen saver and password request should have different time values. I haven't found an app that can help with this either.

This is one issue with Samsung phones.
On my HTC Evo, with HTC sense, or just Cyanogemod 7 ROM, the phone's sleep time is different from the lock time. I have it set to lock after 5 minutes, but sleep after 1 minute. The phone will not immediately lock until 5 minutes of idle.
I wish Samsung would implement this feature.
Perhaps using a CM7 ROM on it could deliver this feature...you'd have to test though.
