Root A while ago...

I bricked my Desire many months ago. :/ I have had a new phone since but, I was wondering if there is something new that has appeared to un-brick.

Basically, I S-Offed and messed up something shortly after, totally my error. I turn the phone on and I get a triangle in each corner /!\ with a HTC logo in the center and black background. If I have it plugged into USB and unplug it I get a white screen with the custom HBoot I installed but can't do anything. If I plug it back into the computer the Desire screen goes back to the 4 triangle display.

I have tried adb from the cmdline and it sees nothing;
PS C:\fastboot> ./adb.exe devices
List of devices attached

I try fastboot and get a response;
PS C:\fastboot> .\fastboot.exe devices
S********0 fastboot

Any suggestions or ideas would be great. Just trying to revive the Desire for my Son to start using, 3DS units and games are very expensive. :)

OK, being S-Offed I thought I'd try flashing the latest img from SURoot; 'AlphaRev dGBrSU 60' was successfully flashed but I'm at a loss still. I plug the battery and still get the black screen and when I disconnect from the comp I see the white screen again with AlphaRev dGBrSU 60 (in pink text) at the top and RUU (in orange text) at the bottom.

flash the alpharev downgrader from alpharev.nl

run the 2.3.3 ruu from shipped-roms.com (under bravo)

so you revived the old beast?
if you want to s-off this again you will have to use revolutionary.io

Indeed, I followed the instructions you gave. I flashed the downgrade image then ran the 2.3 RUU. First run through gave a 152 error but then I followed the on screen recovery option and 5min later all was good.

Thanks again!

Now I have to decide, keep the Nexus S or Desire ...cause I really missed the Desire when I killed it, there is just something about the phone I like. Going to see if my 32GB Class 10 works later. I'll decide after my daughter's skating ;-)

try s-off with revolutionary and flash a recovery (use our guides)
if you want a nice looking rom that isnt sense but is good on battery. i would try the oxygen based version of mildwild (you will need an ext partition)
if you want plain aosp with some nice tweeks and shit loads of space without a2sd use DGB, im using DGB and its awesome. its best if you use the custom hboot supplied for the rom.

eye candy is nice on mildwild though probably the best thought out aosp rom ive seen for a while other than miui which is its own beast.

the reason i advised on the downgrade hboot is because if you had tried to RUU this with the current one it would have caused an even worse brick as the new hboots have write protection on them

Flashed dGB60 and dGB 012120121 just now. Excellent, I think I'm going to sell my Nexus S to my sis-in-law and keep the Desire. :cool:

+1

Just curious I can only get to the Market and/or surf when my wifi is on. Network settings look normal. This is what I get;

/!\ Attention
A network error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to previous screen
Retry / Cancel

have you restored your apn settings? - its not automatic on dgb ;)

Another thing I don't know about: APNs. I can make calls and txt but no data except wifi ...I have a great 6GB plan I want to make use of ;-)
