Root A2SD Storage space and Ex3 Partition problems.

Tyseyh

Android Expert
Good Afternoon everyone.

I have a problem with my A2SD Storage.
ScreenShot.jpg

As you can see, Internal storage is fine, as i was hoping, HURRAH!
But, the A2SD Storage really isnt. 4.21MB left out of 457 ( Which it was meant to be 512MB )

There is noway iv used all that space on my apps.
Though i must point out i did make the ex3 partition via ROM Manager, which i heard is a big no no but its the only way i can get it to work.
Gparted doesnt see my SD card, Partition wizard will create the partition but my phone then doesnt see it.

Also, if i remove the partition, remake it with partition wizard then re-flash my ROM, it will get to the lock screen and not show anything, even after leaving it for about an hour, Though making it with ROM Manager does. ( I had to flash leedroid to get ROM manager on to then flash my current rom Insert Coin.

Also, im looking at System Storage too, iv no idea why that is so low, any ideas?
Il give any more info that is needed but i think that should be enough.

Thanks guys and gals for any replies.

Partition wizard, delete that immediately as it'll beak everything. It's so bad it even broke my kettle. Don't ask for the technical explanation on that one.

We need to get gparted working. Now we left you where you had vmplayer set up. When you have gparted running, you should see a usb icon at the bottom show up when you plug the desire in in recovery mode. Then in recovery mount usb mass storage.

Next when you click on that usb icon, it should give you a connect option which will disconnect from host. How far do you get in this process? Did you get me those screen shots I asked for?

Lol@broke your kettle :D

that sdcard is 512?

i think something is messed up with the partitions or whatever else youve used if the sdcard is 8gb but shows as 512 in gparted

where did you get the card from?

the SD card isnt 512, no.
that 512 you see there is the linux Persistence drive.
it wont even show my SD card

are you booting as recovery? the clicking mount usb mass storage in mounts and storage?

then clicking refresh in gparted?

have you tried a card reader?

I can't see those pics on the app.

Rasta can you see? Just need for the gparted vm to see the usb device

yeah, Done all them.
The only card reader i have is some cheap thing i got with my R4DS back in the day though it should do just fine, exactly the same happens.
Il do it again to double check, see if i have changed anything since then.

just tried it, exactly the same.

Did you click the vm players usb icon in the bottom of the vm.player window and select connect?

Dan, aye I did. If I click it again it says disconnect.
So its defo connected

Rasta, got it from rymans, was cheap.
Btw what is that h2testw?

Once its connected, reboot the vm. Does it see it then? I'm confident this is a setup issue

I think you might be right about it being a setup issue. Iv just noticed if i go to reboot the VM, it doesnt start up again.

HURRAH! it now sees my card after a re-setting up of Gparted- plugging in my phone in recover-mounted-restart VM

Now what? Just remove my current ex3 partition then make it again with this?
btw what is Linux- Swap? its 32MB

You want to remove swap and if you want resize the fat to be a bit smaller so you get bigger ext. Format the ext blank too

He he, I've also moved to using VMware player. Much faster than the VM on W7 Pro, and does a beautiful job replacing the need for physical bootable CDs. :)

@Tyseyh,
I hope you did increase the ext3 size as suggested by SUroot (1GB recommended). 512MB gets quickly filled if you start using more apps (deja vu internal storage shortage).

I didnt give it 1gb no, i probably should of, its a silly amount atm, maybe 590 MB.

though one thing i have noticed is.
Well, il show a screen shot. ( Magical things aint they )

Mainly A2SD/ System Storage and Possibly cache.

I dont understand the A2SD. its just apps, right? Unless its other stuff of the ROM it has installed to the SD card too? I'm so very sure i ain't used all that on Apps.

What rom is it?

Normally A2sd+ is:
/data/app > /sd-ext/data/app
/data/dalvik-cache > /sd-ext/dalvik-cache

But some roms like the new sense stuff (HD onwards) use ext for other stuff too.
