Root aaaargh help please

Aloha:)

I have a really annoying problem that has gotten worse recently. I have been on MIUI for the past few months but had the same problem on Gingervillian prior to switching.

I use 2g at home as the 3g signal is barely there, this is fine as I have no real need for 3g there ..... however, I use 3g at work to pass time on internet.

On GV it was always a chore switching between the two, at home I would try to go onto 2g but the phone would ignore my request and cling to the feintest of 3g signals that would drop out on sending a message or making a call. At work it would take numerous attempts to get onto the 3g signal despite it being a strong signal - it would keep selecting 2g lol:(

This issue got better when I switched to MIUI, it would do what I want first or second time of asking in either location:)

but now the issue is worse than ever, I go to work and can't get onto 3g despite two fellow workmates having full bars with a Desire on the same network:( A reflash of the last MIUI update fixed it once or twice but now that doesn't suffice. The only fix I can do now is to nandroid restore to the point just after I flashed said ROM or to do a clean install from scratch sob sob boo.

What could be the cause of this extremely annoying issue? is some file or something clogging up after a few days use and inhibiting the 2g/3g switch? I haven't a baldy tbh but it seems odd that I can nandroid and be fine for a few days, have problems, nandroid and be fine for a few days, have problems. I am stuck in a loop lol

Any help/input would be appreciated as this is the only thing that my phone let's me down on:(

If there is no solution, can anyone recommend a ROM that switches seemlessly? as much as I like miui this is a dealbreaker :(

cheers folks

Try phone with as bare bones aosp rom as possible like maybe oxygen, redux and see If situation improves.

Before you suspect phone hardware try flashing the latest radio and see. Of course you need to be soff.

hmm it works if you restore it to a version of the rom soon after you flashed it?

have you installed anything like juicedefender or any app that monitors/controlls data traffic automatically??

I honestly don't believe it is hardware related, pens like some cache or something is accumulating and causing a blockage lol.

I do use a data monitor but only go the past month or so, my allowance is 3gb and I never come close to it so I doubt that is the issue.

Will try a stripped down ROM when I get the time and see how that fares, thanks.

10 bonus points available for a solution lol

edit: not s-off so messing with radio will be a last resort if need be
