Root Accessing phone storage via computer

So normally when i plug in my phone it'll ask if i wanna put it into usb storage mode or just charge but since i flashed this new rom I've no idea how to get to the usb storage mode bcuz it doesn't give me that pop up anymore. Help plz

Hey schmooey! What rom are you on? When you plug your phone in and pull down your notification bar, do you see an option to select there?

The rom i'm using is XenonHD, its a jelly bean one. And no, the notification thing isnt there in the drop down thing

hmmm...perhaps I will have to flash that rom to check it out.
So when you plug in your phone, it basically just charges and you cannot see it on your computer correct?
I assume you have the drivers installed on your computer yes?
let me find and flash that rom too

Yupp, drivers are installed and all that good stuff. Normally on any other rom i just plug my phone in, my computer makes a noise (a usb being plugged in) and then my phone will show up if i choose the storage option. On this one tho when i plug it in it just acts like its charging from a wall charger

I've been running that ROM for a few days and I understand your issue. The only way I've been able to access the sd card files is thru the usb toggle in recovery.

Ya its the blackdome that i have. I have no idea if its a rom related issue but if so no big deal. I could always use the usb toggle like biker said.

I have the answer...settings/rom settings/statusbar toggles/enabeled toggles...once you get here you can go down the list and select usb tether

Hmm so I did what you said and turned the usb toggle on and when I did that it said something about the system ui stopped working. So from there I long pressed on the toggle and it took me to this. Why does it say that it's not plugged in when it is??

I had the same issue so I went back, rebooted and cleaned both caches, but still the same issue you indicated

usb tether is not the same as disc drive. it means that you can connect your phone to your pc via usb and then tether the phone to your pc so that you can use your pc and have internet access.

apparently others are having the same issue.
