Acer Iconia tab 10.1, 32 Gb question?

Hi all,
I want to buy my first tablet. I can get acer iconiatab A500 32 Gb for US$ 379.00 in my country. It is brand new and packed from store.

Does it worth it? Is it better than Samsung tabs? Off course the price of Samsung 10.1 tablet is US$ 571 here.

Well... this is an a500 forum, so it's probably going to be difficult to get a significant amount of objective advice here. I really like my a500, and can hardly put it down. I suspect though that I would likely feel the same way had I made some other choice, as long as I did not have significant problems with the hardware, etc.

On the price differences you've noted, I'd have to say that the Samsung appears to provide less functionality for a much higher price. I would likely chose the a500 over the Samsung even if the prices were identical.

When I bought my tablet, I shopped for weeks, read a lot of reviews, and in general just spent a lot of time researching this issue. I concluded then that the Acer Iconia a500 was the best overall value for me in the Tegra dual core class tablets. There are many similarities between these tablets, and many of these systems apparently run Android very well. The differences between many of the tablets are subtle. When I eventually narrowed my selections down to just two systems -- i.e., the ASUS Transformer and the Acer a500 -- the Acer a500 won.

The devices are all very similar in many respects. For example, the ASUS LED screen has a wider viewing angle than the a500 LCD, but I did not want someone sitting next to me to be able to easily read data from the screen anyway -- I actually consider a narrower viewing angle a security feature.

I eventually chose the a500 because it comes with an easily accessible full sized USB 2.0 port. That is an important feature for me. I could not see buying an expensive dock to have USB ports, and would not want to carry that around anyway.

My advice is to read reviews at Amazon for each device you are looking at. I like Amazon reviews because it is such a huge seller, and as such, the site usually provides a great number of reviews from good to bad. For technical reviews, techrepublic.com. pcworld.com, and cnet.com can be informative.

Read reviews for devices in your price range, and choose relative to the features that you want.

Again, I chose the a500 because it has the features I want at a price I was willing to pay. I am very pleased with the a500.

My choice was mostly price related, as I got mine for half what the Galaxy Tab cost. But I think it is a highly capable tablet, and I have been pleased with it.

Thanks for your feedback..I will using for the same purpose as yours. Did you get 32 gb with 200 pounds? That's quite cheap.

Yeah... I'd wanted a tablet for a while and done a bit of research. All the tabs I was considering were pretty similar spec... what really did it for me was that the A500 has a full sized USB port.

Once I'd decided that it was the A500 I wanted, I spent a long time looking (as I was going to be spending Birthday money on it) and eBay paid off. It wasn't brand new... it was one that must have either been a display model or (more likely) a customer return that was checked out and then sold on cheap. Got it for

Thank you very much Mrhelper for such a detailed advice.
Yeah! I think I have made my mind to buy this device as it is cheap according to my budget and I will be using only for surfing the net, facebooking and checking e-mails.
I am indeed thankful.

Yeah, like D-U-R-X I got a great deal on mine as well. And very similar on specs, nothing I say to justify the extra price.
