Is there any apps to block ads?

Ad blocking is only possible if your are rooted. Keep asking questions, but I need to move this the DX root section.

every time i try to run gingerbreak AVG pops up and tells me the file is infected..no matter where i download it from. can anyome help?

avg is partially correct, the file you are downloading is an exploit of sorts, but only for the phone.... at least you know avg is working...lol
rooting will require you know which ROM you are currently on, that is: go to settings/about phone/system version. you will see a number such as; 4.5.621.m810.verizon.en.us, the purple numbers are your version as referenced by the forum
this number is the build you are on and will determine which root method you need to use, as there are a few on gingerbread and if you're still on froyo, a completely different one is used.
lets get you identified first, then we'll go from there.

well lets see....got several numbers here.......lol baseband version, kernel version, hardware version.....it's an a samsung admire SCH-R720 if that helps....
