Okay, I am NOT computer savvy by any means...I think my question pertains to what you are all talking about in here so I thought I would give this a try.

I have a HTC Desire, just upgraded to the Android 2.2 and am having low memory problems on my phone. The main issue is that 99% of the apps are not listed as being transferable to the SD card. I found a youtube video that showed a way to "trick" the phone to allowing more apps to be transfered to the SD card, but when I get to the command prompt portion I get this error: "adb is not recognized internal or external command, operable program or batch file". Looking at the Android SDK that I downloaded, it shows the adb has been moved. The "help" part says to do the following: The adb tool has moved to platform-tools/
If you don't see this directory in your SDK,
launch the SDK and AVD Manager (execute the android tool)
and install "Android SDK Platform-tools"
Please also update your PATH environment variable to
include the platform-tools/ directory, so you can
execute adb from any location.

But I don't know what it means by updating a path environment. Any help would be much appreciated!

The path is the location of the adb shell, so whatever you are using to access the shell needs to point there- c:/droidroot/ is where mine is. Yours may vary depending on where exactly you installed it.

If you're not computer savvy by any means, then realize that your Android phone is ALSO a computer. Therefore, treat google as your best friend and just google some of the terms/parts of the sentences you have posted and you will learn much from it.

By including the location of the platform-tools/ folder in your %PATH% variable, you no longer have to run adb.exe from that folder; you can open a command prompt anywhere, enter the command(s) and the OS will be able to find it.

Under recent flavours of MS Windows you can edit the %PATH% via System Properties, under the Advanced tab. Click "Environment Variables", and in the "User variables for <username>" section select "path" and click "Edit...". Hit the "End" key to move the cursor to the end of the variable string, enter ";" followed by the absolute path to platform-tools/ e.g. ;c:\android-sdk\platform-tools. Note that Windows uses back-slashes rather than the Linux forward-slash! Confirm the edit, close out the dialogues and reboot the system for it to take effect.

p.s. if multiple accounts on the PC use the SDK then edit the %PATH% variable in the "system variables" section instead of "user variables".
