trying to flash a new S-OFF img and come across a stumbling block, using my work computer

When the phone is plugged and booted into Android then adb devices shows the device, when I get the phone into fastboot USB then adb doesn't show the device.

On each plug in the same device is showin device manager "My HTC"

i've removed the drivers and reinstalled from the sdk google drivers /tna

i'v also used USBDeview to remove all of the Desire devices.

its fine to show myHTC
however are you doing adb devices or fastboot devices?

you supposed to use fastboot commands, nothing to do with adb

Like rasta says, adb doesnt work in fastboot. Only fastboot works in fastboot.

Have a read of the adb and fastboot FAQ
