Root add app to rom?

With the OP's GingerVillain rom, if he's running standard partitions there'll be plenty of space - usually taken by Sense. Still worth keeping an eye on it if you're going to add a few.

And for any reason if it didn't run correctly after its booted up is a wipe the only method of cleaning it out? As I'm still s-on?

Well yeah there is that one and orgasmatron! :P but its to test juice defenders beta version ad it needs to be installed as a system app. Is there any way of putting the file on the system file without having to install a modded Rom? Don't forget I'm s-on still.

You'd need to push it using adb or flash it if you're s-on. Either way you do it via recovery. If it didn't work, yes a wipe and a flash would sort it out. Shouldn't be a problem though, surely an app does the same thing regardless of which partition it's run from - it may just have more rights? That said, installing a beta app in the system partition may bring risks.

not quite
you cannot do it this way if you are s-on
also some apps do need to be system as they perform better when loaded as a system app (some launchers have system only versions for example)
they have to be programed as a system app though and as such cannot be installed to data

That's exactly the reason I want to do it as juice defender beta has been designed as a system app. So can I push it in system ok do you think?

Ok, thanks rasta, will I need to do a wipe if I'm just flashing the same Rom? And when an updated version comes out and I try to install it will it go straight to the system file or will I have to do all this again?

you shouldnt need to wipe
youll need to follow the same process as you dont have s-off
if you had s-off you could just push it to system and reboot

I think I'm gonna have to s-off then, so its just, backup, install sense based Rom, run s-off live cd, wait until step 3 has finished reboot, then restore nandroid backup. Job done. So you think this will be done in under10 mins?
