Root advantage/ disadvantage of rooting

what are the advantages and diadvantages of rooting?

i think that this thread says it all:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/129648-quick-intro-rooting-those-new-rooting.html

but also:
1.rooting just gives you freedom over your phone. you make the decision on how your phone should be and also how it performs.

2.you can get better battery life.

3.you can partition your sd card so that you can get more apps without ruining your ram.

4.you can over and underclock your phone to make faster and increase battery life.

5.you can theme your phone

6.you can remove bloatware

7.we have roms out now that have sense 3.5 that was ported from other phones. it is like you updated your phone without really having to pay for it or sign a new 2yr contract.

how would i root to sense 3.5

You wouldn't root to sense 3.5, you'll flash a rom that has Sense 3.5.

Once you gain root access, you will be able to flash any rom that you want.

And I would highly recommend using the recovery Amon Ra v2.3. If you read the rooting for dummines guide that ocnbrze has written, all the information will be in that sticky

how would i root to sense 3.5

first you need to get your phone rooted then you just flash the rom. what is your hboot? power off then press and hold power+vol down. you might need to uncheck fastboot to power off (settings/app/uncheck fastboot). at the top is your hboot version.

if it is hboot 2.15 or 2.16 then you need to use this guide:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

if it is hboot 2.1 or less then you need this guide:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html

Look what ocnbrze wrote, power off the phone, then while holding the volume down button, hold the power button. On this screen, it will tell you what your hboot is
