Advice on Roms

I've run into a problem, which I knew I would. :( I was on the GC01 rom and modem. I flashed the fl24 tar via mobile odin, then I used mobile odin to flash the el29 direct boot kernal/recovery. It booted into the recovery v5.0.2.7. I am able to use the volume buttons to move up and down but the power button does not work for the selection. Know matter what I highlight, the power button does not select it, and yes the power button did work when I was on regular bootup.

Please Help!!! as of now, my phone is not usable.

You can flash it before or after as loong as you have the modem in when you flash the ROM. The el29 direct boot recovery kernel is just a recovery that is protected against the eMMC brick bug (as are most recovery kernels now). When you flash the ROM the el29 will be replaced by the kernel that comes with the ROM.

Will it hurt anything to take the battery out to get it rebooted???
Also, once I get the recovery working, is it ok to do a wipe/factory reset to clear out the old rom before I flash the new rom?
Also, when I flashed the modem, I went into about phone and baseband chaged from gc01 to gb08. Does that mean this is a ics modem??

I took the battery out and it just rebooted back into clockworkmod. The volume buttons work but not the power button? Please help!!!

Ok, I flashed the wild for the night rom. When it first booted it said no internet connection. I went into settings about phone, baseband and under that it says GB08, is that a ics modem. I also tried to use my browser and it also said unable to connect to the internet. Please help.

That is not an ICS modem, boot into recovery and flash an ICS modem FI22, FI27 or FL24

I flashed the fl24 when I was on the GC01 rom, oh well, it must not have flashed properly or something. Since I flashed that through the mobile odin on the other rom, can install teh fl24 through the recovery, and if so, what type of file does it need to be, zip, tar??

You can't flash modems properly with Mobile Odin on our phone. Either use PC Odin or use the CWM zip file of the modem.

I have just discovered that my 4G doesn't work. In settings, there is no option for 4G that I could see. I'm on wild for the night rom. The only thing I found was that I could toggle it on or off in the power menu. But when I toggled it on in a 4G area the 4G icon never came on.

Also, when I open TB, a window pops up saying Your system settins may cause problems. To correct this, go to your phones settings then in applications then in development and tick the usb debugging checkbox. When I go into applications, it just shows the actual applications, no development. As I recall on the last rom I was on (GC01 rooted), it was in Development Options. I did not see and development options menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to settings, then about phone, the tap on build number a bunch of times to enable developer options. As far as 4G it's my understanding that it works, you just don't get a 4G icon. I don't have 4G in New Orleans so I can't really test that part

Use the el29 direct boot kernel(safe kernel). Wipe/Factory reset, flash the FL24 modem, flash wild for the night, then flash the gaps, then the boostmmsfix.zip, then boot into cm10.1. Install titanium backup pro, then apn manager pro. Use TB to make APN pro a system app. Fix the apn with the correct info and you are good to go. Let me know if you have any problems finding any of those things.

Thanks for the help. I got the development options to come up. On 4G, if the icon doesn't come up, how do I know whether or not I am on 4G then.

Also, you said in your post above to install apn manager pro, what is this app and what does it do??

Go to system settings, under wireless & networking tap "more..." the 4g settings you can connect, and see if you are connected. APN Pro allows you to easily edit your APN. Just remember to make it a system app otherwise you will have issues.

If your on a non boost rom you'll need to edit your APN to get MMS working.
APN stands for: Access Point Name.

I don't know, all I send is regular texts, I have never sent a mms. I guess I could send a pic back to myself, would that qualify to see if that works or not??

It doesn't look like its working, I sent it over 5 minutes ago and still haven't received it. Is there a flashable zip for this issue that I can just flash

The flashable zip I came across did nothing for me, but here is the APN settings you need:
Name: BoostMobile
APN: MMS
Proxy:
Port:
User Name: BoostMobile
Password:
Server:
MMSC: http://mm.myboostmobile.com
MMS Proxy: 68.28.31.1
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 00
APN Type:

If you need help with APN Pro in putting this info in send me a PM and I write you up a quick step by step guide. Do you have Titanium Backup installed?

Yes I have TB. I'm not sure how to pm. Also, I don't have apn pro, how do I install it?? Also, I would appreciate step by step instructions. Thanks

On a different note, how can I create a screenshot. I have screencast but I know I've done it awhile back but have not done it recently. Screencast received a update, now I can't find where to do this. Do you know how to do this??

Make sure you can install apps from unknown sources
-go to system settings>Security>make sure Unknown sources is checked

using your file explorer (default for Wild for the Night is called "File Manager" go to where you saved the APK file and just tap on it, should promt you to either install, or it will tell you it is installing.
Once it is installed Open Titanium Backup, at the top tap "Backup/Restore" find APN Pro in the list. Long press on it until the menu pops up>scroll all the way to the bottom and tap on "Convert to system app"
once that is done open up APN Pro
tap on APN list
tap your menu button and then tap "New APN"
fill it out as follows:

Name: BoostMobile
APN: MMS
Proxy:
Port:
User Name: BoostMobile
Password:
Server:
MMSC: http://mm.myboostmobile.com
MMS Proxy: 68.28.31.1
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 00
APN Type:

(anything blank, should be just that, blank)

tap save
then tap on the newly created APN should turn green to the left of it.
Your MMS should now work.
