Help ADWL Launcher

Kimber10

Newbie
Hello everyone let's get the dry stuff out of the way. I own a S5 and the specks are,
Model SM-G900T
Device type, kltetmo
Product code, SM-G900TZWAMB
Firmware TMB
CSC TMB

Please let me know if I am missing any info, I'm sure I have it.

Now the issue. I have been using the ADW launcher for the last couple months with out problems and now every time I hit the home key to get back to my desktop the pick a launcher screen comes up prompting me to choose a launcher. Could someone please tell me what is wrong and how to fix this.

I take it you've tapped "always" or whatever?
You could try disabling the other stock launchers (i believe there's an "easy" and a normal one in Samsung's?) in Settings, Applications, scroll across to ALL, find the stock launchers, hit "disable" (next to "force stop")
See if that helps

I used adw for a year or so and this started happening on my old phone. I never found a solution and the developer abandoned the app so no help their.

Bummer. Did he take on a new project mate?
Did you try disabling stock browsers?
I'm not sure to be honest. He just stopped answering emails no one could get ahold of him. It hasn't had an update in 2 years. It's to bad though. It was a really solid launcher.

No I didn't disable the stock launcher.

okay so I ended up uninstalling ADW and I am still being prompted to pick a launcher, so I am assuming it's not the app. I went into settings and found the stock launchers, they won't allow me to disable them, which is only making me want to root this phone even more than I did before this.

I would suggest trying a reset to see if that helps but make sure everything is backed up first.

Do you use a 3rd party lockscreen by any chance?

No I am using the stock lockscreen. I'm trying to avoid a reset but at this point I'm almost willing to deal with the hassle.

Tbh one of the things you don't wanna uninstall with root is your stock launchers.
Imagine a factory reset then booting a phone with no launcher? Useless.
I suppose rooting and freezing them with Titanium Backup is an option.

Btw guys. How do we unfreeze frozen apps on a non bookable phone? Out of interest.
Safe mode?

:( Okay peeps I'm about to give up. I tried disabling the stock launchers. Option is there, but not available for use. So I gave in and backed up everything than reset the phone. Guess what, all the headache of doing a reset was pointless as I am still having the same problem only now I have to reorganize everything. I think I will have to give Samsung remote access and see if they can't figure it out.

Shit that really sucks. One thing I'll say is your phone will run better after a reset but that doesn't help much eh :(
I'm sure I read of someone with the same problem before and they had to reflash their phone's firmware....
Sorry to hear you wiped your phone for nothing but I think a reflash wipes it anyway so don't get it set up too nicely eh

I don't use a lockscreen. I can't if the Vulcan ever decides to use the phone in an emergency. No one but me touches the old Acer tablet so I don't bother there, either. I've seen the same message asking me to pick on both rooted and non-rooted devices with no lock screen. I've only seen it when I have 2 launchers on the device. I might be trialling one and disabling the other.

I also get it on the tablet - I have Boat, Boat has a mini browser, and I have Dolphin Zero. I get a choice between all of those and YouTube every time I want to watch a clip in MLB. I put up with it since I might have a different reason for each app every time I wish to view a video.
