Help After 10 hours Extended Battery 20%

So while trying the bump charge, I noted a few things. Once a full charge was complete with the phone off, I powered the phone on, after it started, I was already down to 97%. Immediately charging the phone while on with the screen off, it took a little more than 15 minutes to get back to 100%. Also, when on the phone for 15 minutes or longer (browsing the internet, playing games, etc.)the phone does get noticeably warm...I think it's time to try a replacement

After my reset I put the standard battery back in just to test while I was away from my phone for 1 hr. When I left the phone it was at 60%. When I came back it was at 47%. At first I didn't think I had a problem. Is this normal?

It looks like the phone went into sleep mode while I was gone. I'm thinking it's time for a swap.

Mine drops about 2 to 3% an hour in standby. I would say that isn't normal...

You have 4G turned on?

Yes... It is about 3-4% on 4g and 1-2% on WiFi... That is with the standard battery. It has been pretty consistent. I have had the phone since 11-15.

Power up (if not already) and plug your device into a power source. As the battery is being charged, the notification LED shows a solid orange light.

Wait until LED is solid green, indicating it is fully charged.

Unplug, press and hold the power button, and select the option to power off.

Once powered down reconnect power source.

The LED will show a solid orange light again, indicating it is charging.

Once it's green, unplug the device and use the power button to power up the device.

Once Sense has loaded plug the phone back in again. You will notice that the LED is now orange again.

Repeat steps 3-7 process until the light is green immediately upon plugging it back in (approximately 3-4 times).

Ok, Thanks... Gonna try it and see what happens. *fingers crossed*

Just curious... would like to know, could the battery life issue be the 3.7V versus the 3.8V batteries??? Please reply and let us know what battery you are using. Both my standard and extended are 3.7V and having batery life issues. Those of you that have good/great battery life, are you running a 3.8? Thanks for the feed back!!:D

Went to the store and they swapped it. Phone died after 2 hrs of heavy usage on 4g downloading installing all my stuff. Will update tomorrow.

I am getting really good battery life with a stock standard 3.7V Battery and a Verizon purchased 3.7V Standard battery that I purchased for when I travel.

the battery indicator will lie to you from 90-100%. The reason is it's bad for batteries to charge to 100% so they are left with a few options.

1. charge to 100% andn ot have the battery last as long.
2. show the true reading and have to explain to million of people
3. have it indicate 100% evne though it's moving from 90-100% and then when unplugged meter it down to catch up the indicator with the true battery charge. This is why at times you lose 100-90% much quicker and then it slows down and discharges normally beyond that.

btw i'm about to hit hour 12 with my phone and with the extended battery i'm at nearly 80% now. used google talk for 15 min, about 40 min worth of phone calls as well. a few things snyc'n and the display around 60%.

That's the life I want.

I agree, this isn't normal. Like I stated earlier. I had issues similar to the OP except I never tried and extended battery. Instead I got 5-6 hours on the standard battery and saw 10% drains an hour with no use. I also noted that my phone was warmer than expected.

I did the following and saw no improvement:
  1. factory reset
  2. did not setup any accounts
  3. did not install any applications
  4. opt'd out of all reporting features (like tell htc and google)
  5. Removed all but one homescreen
  6. placed 4 icons on the screen and nothing else
  7. setting the phone to Economy Power Mode

After doing the above I still saw 7-10% drops doing nothing but sleeping in my pocket. Within a minute or two of turning on the phone's screen it got warm to the touch. It was literally as warm as the hand-warmers I used while hunting this year.

I presented all this information, used System Panel (an app in the market) to track my discharge/charge cycles, and presented the graphs to a Verizon agent in a corporate store. They wasted not time in approving my warranty swap once they saw the data and easily reproduced the heat issue.

Today I've had a light day, been on 4g in Normal mode, have apps installed and my Google account sync'n and I'm at 47% battery after 11 1/2 hours. That's a mixture of wifi and 3g/4g all day long. All this on the standard battery, I'm really really satisfied with the battery life on this device.

Get a warranty replacement while you can (before they ship out certified like new devices). If you get another bad phone then I'd say swap it for a Nexus when they come out. That was my plan, just seems like to many of these rogue phones got through the QA process which worries me. Sounds like the same thing has happened to the Razr as well. Some users report great battery life and others are barely getting halfway through the day.

Good luck

I've had 4G on for the whole day with "Performance" mode on and in more than 8 hours (from 7:30am to 4:00pm) I still have 45%. Granted I've mostly checked email, surfed for about 30 minutes and limited casual use but I'm much happier with the battery life of this thing over the Thunderbolt's battery life.

I read somewhere (I can't remember where) that bump charging the Rezound once should help sync your battery with the phone, and once done successfully, you shouldn't have to do it again. I was impressed with the battery life to begin with, but figured I'd give it a try. I actually noticed an improvement (not sure if battery meter is now more accurate, or if the battery is actually lasting longer).

I bump charged my phone once like indicated in this thread with two differences: (1) I disabled fast boot; and (2) I left the charger plugged in while powering on and off. According to the meter, I'm getting about 1 hour and 30 minutes more out of my battery versus before I bump charged it last week.

YMMV, but IMHO it's worth a try.

On the other hand, I would suspect that if you are really seeing 4-5 hours on the stock battery, there is much more going on then the need to bump charge / sync your battery.

Went to Best Buy and received a warranty replacement, thank God, Verizon was going to send a certified like new. Anyway update tomorrow

Wow, they've already got refurbs in the system? I remember with the Thunderbolt it took about a month before they had refurbs in the system. I wonder what the quality of the Refurbs are going to be like for the Rezound, with the Thunderbolt the refurbs were garbage.

19 hours off charger and sitting at 29%!!!!
Like I said Standard battery. I couldn't do that in the TBolt or my first Rezound.

How can anybody derive anything since depends on the specific person's actual usage and settings? Trying to compare one persons's use to another is not apples to apples. Not even apples to grapes.

Example: 19 hours with 29% means light use for me, so unless the OP is using the same way- not a comparison.

You folks ever take any science or statistics classes? ;) Need control samples and standards. Just messing with you all, but still- you do! :)

Agreed 100%...we really need data on how you are using your phone. There is no way I would get that kind of life even on my 1800mah inc battery...

So I swapped mine out yesterday at the store. Loading all my apps up last night and bump charged it. So far this morning I haven't done much of anything.

I played Fruit Ninja for maybe 5 mins and I browsed the web for about 2 mins. I even turned off 4G about an hour ago and a half ago. Right now I'm sitting at 70% battery after 3 hrs 45 mins. I am definitely frustrated... I'll have to give the battery a few more days but this is not a good sign. In addition, I have also noticed that this battery runs just as warm as my last one.

Let me tell you how I use my rezound and what the Battery life is like.

I have an extended battery.

Start day, typically remove from charger between 4 and 4:30 am check e-mail.

it than sits for about half hour in bathroom while I do the 3S's (Shit Shower and Shave for the slower people)

I than start my day which includes many calls in coming and outgoing. I check email constantly, I text often and get texts often. I do have a tendency to play games on the phone whenever I have idle time, lately that means Serious Sam, and Plants Vs Zombies. Likely do this for at least an hour of screen up time a day.

I usually pick up my 6 year old from daycare around 3:30 and he always grabs my phone and likes Super Why and Angry birds.

I hook my phone back up to the charger between 10PM which is 18 hours and 12midnight 20 hours and the lowest it has ever been when I hook up has been 20%

I leave GPS always, I keep WiFi off unless I need it and I have it set to performance mode, with my screen on Auto and my screen timeout set to 30 seconds.

Serious Sam on Android?

I'm not a fan of the Extended batteries . I've got a little bit of cheap advice for someone needing more then the standard battery

Go to Ebay and Buy a Thunderbolt Battery Charger (they're $4-$6 shipped, don't get one with a battery as they won't work in your Rezound) Go to Verizon and buy a 2nd standard battery for $19.99 right now and just carry an extra battery with you . that Gives you over 3200mah of use in a day. I usually pop a new battery in my phone at 7am by about 6pm my red light is on and I pop it out and put a new battery and you're good to go

I'm using this method right now and one thing I noticed is that, after a few cycles, the green light was immediate upon plugging in after powering off, but not after powering on. So I still need to go through the cycles until I get a green light both ways, correct?
