Help After 10 hours Extended Battery 20%

How can anybody derive anything since depends on the specific person's actual usage and settings? Trying to compare one persons's use to another is not apples to apples. Not even apples to grapes.

Example: 19 hours with 29% means light use for me, so unless the OP is using the same way- not a comparison.

You folks ever take any science or statistics classes? ;) Need control samples and standards. Just messing with you all, but still- you do! :)

Actually if you get enough samples all the information can be approximate and you can still draw an accurate conclusion. If we have 50 people saying there phone dies with light use after 5 hours and 50 others saying they are getting 3 times that with moderate use its safe to say there is a real objectively verified problem. Have you taken any science or statistics classes? Its all about the number of samples, the more samples the less accrurate or standardized the data has to be, it can be averaged to give an accurate conclusion.

Too many variables and not enough constants, so your definition of accurate may be different than mine.

And yes, I have taken plenty of classes and actually done real stuff too.

There really aren't that many major variables. What's running, and usage is really it, the rest is just noise that can be averaged and eliminated. Its funny because if what you are saying is true we could never know if a device has a battery issue, yet how many have been confirmed after starting in threads exactly like this one? Anyway we have a guy here who had his phone replaced and more than doubled his battery life, we can assume since its the same user the variables are close enough and could not account for a 100% increase in battery life.

So there was atleast one defective phone/battery and others are reporting similar issues. Mine is fine, better than my rooted and trimmed down Dinc. I have not had a day with less than 10 hours, so if people are reporting 4-5 hours maximum in numbers we can say without a doubt there is a problem.

So I swapped mine out yesterday at the store. Loading all my apps up last night and bump charged it. So far this morning I haven't done much of anything.

I played Fruit Ninja for maybe 5 mins and I browsed the web for about 2 mins. I even turned off 4G about an hour ago and a half ago. Right now I'm sitting at 70% battery after 3 hrs 45 mins. I am definitely frustrated... I'll have to give the battery a few more days but this is not a good sign. In addition, I have also noticed that this battery runs just as warm as my last one.

I suggest installing Battery Monitor and you can see what activities are using the most battery. It will tell you exactly how much current is being drawn from the battery and then you can, one my one, turn on/off GPS, BT, 3G/4G, screen brightness, etc and get a visual feel for what each component of the phone is pulling.

When I am playing with my phone, I find myself mesmerized by that beautiful screen and time kind of stands still and 30 minutes feels like 5. So, I have to look at the battery use screen to check my self and more than likely, I used it WAY longer than I thought I did.

Try this as well, fully charge your phone and use it as normal until the battery is almost dead then do a print screen of the menu option menu>settings>about phone>battery>battery use then post it here.

Also, press on the graph on top and get a screen shot that has the Awake and Screen On graph then post them here.

That should show us what you are seeing.

Also, can some of you guys with the great battery life post what your signal strength is? It's under about phone. I'm usually about -75db, and about -85db in my horrible office.

Forgot to charge my phone last night. Pulled it off the charger at 11:00am, now 9:00pm still have 74%...

Ok with light usage I made it through the day. Just put it on the charger with 12% left after 16 hrs. I left 4G on for most of the day. I can live with that for now. The times I noticed some serious battery drain was when I was using the bathroom at work and browsing the web. I hadn't thought about it until now but maybe being in the center of the building there is a bad 4G signal and it drains the battery.

Anyway, I'll give an update in a few days and then I'll try all of this if necessary.

Ok that is night and day difference from my Rezound. No way I can get 16 hours. Especially after some bathroom browsing! That can drain 10-20% off the battery in 20 minutes on my phone. Really thinking about going back to Best Buy and trying to swap for another one.

I am getting a good signal at home (-65 to -75dB), I bump charged this morning, and it's already down 20% in just over an hour of light use.

Some of the battery useage while the unit is idle may be related to the Android 'Suspend' bug being reported on many different handsets, including my Razr. DL 'watchdog' and let it run a few days-include Android system apps when doing so. You may get a warning that a operation called 'suspend' is using a inordinate amount of CPU while the phone is sitting idle. This has been documented in several places including XDA forums and here Issue 11126 - android - "suspend" process runs continually in background at ~40% CPU on HTC EVO 4G - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting
It is not easily identified or fixed but is a serious problem with the Google/Android system. Google it and you'll see several threads on the problem in various spots.

Ok im having worse battery life than most people here. If I make it 10 hours im doing good. Thus is with about 1 hour screen on time and one 30 minute call. 4g on all the time. Is this normal? I had better life with my incredible.

10hrs isn't bad with 4g on all the time. And the Incredible (especially rooted on CM7 as your profile says) is going to blow away the rezound in the battery life department . The Incredible has a smaller screen and only 3g . 4G is a battery killer for sure as is a 4.3in HD display .

What app are you using that has this battery graph?

Made it 14 hours before going below 10% yesterday. That's with close to 3 hours screen time, which is a lit better than my original Rezound

Is everyone having battery issues charging with the stock charger? I've noticed considerable gains from using the stock charger vs an OEM charger.

12 hours today on 4g with lots of Wifi tethering and I was at 19%
I couldn't think of doing that on the TBolt with the regular battery.

After almost a week with my extended battery, it is really beginning to perform well. I'm at 11+ hours today with some wi-fi, 4g, mostly surfing, a little voice time, and the battery is at 59%. I don't have the screen cranked up all the way and I think that makes a difference along with the battery seeming to settle in now.

After swapping late last week I have gotten better results.

So with the standard battery I have been making it through the work day with 4G turned on. Typically I have about 30-40% battery left after 10 hrs when I head home. That is with pretty light usage. The most demanding thing would be to play a few minutes of fruit ninja in the bathroom or surf the web mostly looking at google reader.

Today I left 3G on just to check and I'm about to leave work (10 hrs off the charger) and my battery life stands at 55%. That's after DLing a 20 MB game and heavier usage then the other days. I'd say I'm satisfied with the battery and it definitely was the phone before.

In addition, I am not having any great issues with battery drain while in standby or sleep mode. 1 to 3 % per hr on 4G and on 3G today I had probably less than 1% drain most hrs.

The only issue I have now is light leakage at the bottom of the glass, but I am too afraid to swap it out again because I don't want another crappy battery.
