Root After Root...No battery Pull due to fixed battery??

Ok..quick question for all you phone gurus. I've had the Evo 4g since it came out and has been rooted for about as long. Occasionally I will flash a rom and it gets stuck in a boot loop and I'll have to pull the battery to get things going again. What will you do in this case with a "fixed" battery of the 4G LTE?

Perhaps some of you have run into this with another phone.

Excerpt from the new EVO User Guide is below with button combination to reboot device in case of freeze or boot loop.

FYI - The OG EVO has a similar button combination to reboot (hold both volume buttons + power button for 5 seconds and release)

Simulate a battery pull
Since the HTC One X does not have a removable battery, there is an alternate method to simulate the process of pulling the battery to kill power to the device. To do this, press and hold the power key for 10 seconds. The capacitive buttons on the bottom of the screen should begin flashing for 5 seconds before the device will power off completely and then restart.

Hopefully this trick works on a really low level of the hardware/pre-boot. I'd hate for it to be Sense/software dependent and not work during recovery or pre-boot situations.

I tried this on my OG Evo and it didn't do anything. But I was running CM7.

That's the key.... it has to be tied into a hardware circuit. I suspect it will be though; otherwise, there'd be way too many service calls, rooted or not.

Odd - that shouldn't matter. It's a hardware switch, so it shouldn't matter what software you're running. It's worked for me on both Sense ROMs, ICS ROMs, or while I'm just stuck at the boot splash.

Yes, I posted about this last night to ease the minds of others by giving Intel of my knowledge if unknown to the comminity but woke up this morning to the thread being gone. I have used this Power Button for ~10seconds method since the original Inc and still works on Tue LTevo

Since the EVO LTE does not have a removable battery, is there a way to "reboot" comparable to a battery pull if the phone locks up? What is the procedure? Hope it never happens, but want to be prepared!

Due to some of my kernel experiments gone awry, I can guarantee that the 10 second monster mash on the power button works like a charm. :)

I am glad to hear that EM!

While I love my OG EVO, its completely locked up several times and U have been forced to do a batter pull.

I am glad to hear that the LTEVO has a kill method.

Makes me feel better about considering the LTEVO upgrade in September!
