Help After the update from sprint

Can someone tell me how to get rid of my "doubled" contact list? I got the sprint update yesterday, by the time I got home and looked at my contacts, I had 2 of each one. Can someone tell me how this happened? Easiest way to get rid of them? Thanks.

Duh, nevermind, I just figured it out. Go to Gmail account there's an option when looking at contacts to merge duplicates.

it happened because you had them (sprint) back up your contacts then they added your contacts back to your phone after they updated the device. at that point, you sync'd your contacts to google which was already backed up so then you now have 2 of each contact.

not sure how to get rid of the contacts though besides deleting each one...all contacts are backed up threw a google server IF you settings-->data sync---> check contacts...

Had a successful update on my Moment at the Sprint Store last night.

Best part for me is, all my Emulators (Gensoid, Snesoid, Nesoid) run even BETTER now. I loves my Android phone.

anybody notice the big change to the music app lol? it now lists tracks in their correct order instead of alphabetical lol

I can't stand more of the white text on black background. If you're going to do that, at least give us the option to choose the background and text color. Bad enough I have to deal with it in email, now it's in the calendar too. Meanwhile gmail isn't that way. It seems like they do things to force or entice you to use gmail. How about treating everything equally instead of my phone being a giant google advertisement. Rant over :)

this requires root but you can copy the calendar.apk from CJ05 into /system/app and overwrite the CL14 calendar.apk. it will now show the white background and black text. i don't use the email app just gmail, as i'm sure they prefer, but this would probably work to bring the white background and black text back to the email application.

Check your contacts to see if one has a red envelope and the other has a different icon. When I had my phone replaced they sync'd everything with Google so I had a Google contact as well as a Moxier mail contact. I went to my gmail account and deleted my contacts from that location rather than trying to delete each contact individually.

can anyone give me details about part of this update? specifically "Change to Emergency Dial on lock screen". What has changed? Does it make it harder to accidentally hit the button? Or does it not immediately dial 911?

OH! Surprisingly no one has pointed this out yet... The call waiting now works the way that it was always supposed to! Just press the green button to switch back and forth between the calls, no more waiting for the screen to turn on, opening a menu, and fumbling around;) (unless of course you want to wait for the screen to turn on so you can see who's waiting)

Damn you beat me to it. I just noticed this as well. So far took the phone of the charger this morning at 610am. So far around 70 percent and I had bluetooth on all day. Before it was usually below 50% by now. Once the batteries dies I am going to try next with Wifi on all day. Then both on the next round. I usually only use wifi at home or at my parents but I am curious as with the pre it has better life supposedly with wi fi on so I wonder if that is the case as well for our phones but over all I am happy. It took them about 20 mintues last night. I did get stuck with double contacts. Just deleted each and I am set now. I used App manager to back up all papps that weren't protected to the sd card. then redownloaded app manager and the ones that were protected. I used AppManager to reinstall from the back up folder the other apps. I have everything back to normal now. Everything feels snappier and the emulators do seem to work well. I think this was a store update so the could repartition to do an OTA for 2.1. I think everyone who wants 2.1 might have to the store to get this since it changes the button specifically for upgrade Android. Also the green guy is gone and it saddens me. I hate the ugly gray silhouette. But oh well. I will find something to use for a default pictuire to assign to those I dont have a pic for. Google maps also works with Use Wireless networks and GPS both on inside my office whicch never did but Sprint nav isn't which never did in my buliding so I will test outside if Having Wireles networks on in location affects it.

Ok guys and gals, drop what you are doing and go straight to your sprint store and get this update. Phone is much snappier, gps works (at least for google maps which is all I use it for) and I can already tell a dramatic improvement in battery life. Glad I got this done today.

I know this update just came out and I got it done I heard there is another update OTA for the 22 which is today and then I heard 2.0 is comming in feb is this correct?

I approve this message!!!!

The DIY method is pretty easy, and you don't lose any apps or settings or double your contacts. ;)

Not sure what the purpose of the file system being seemingly repartitioned is (about 50MB less free memory after the update and probably the reason for the complete wipe of the phone)...but it may be important for the 2.1 update. The DIY method doesn't cause this reduction in free memory...which if something was done in the official update to allow for the 2.1 update, may cause problems. But I don't think anyone really knows yet.

mixed feelings about this update now:

1. before, hotmail / live.com was setup in 2 cicks .. now i had to enter manual details and crap and it is still spotty ...

2. wifi and gps seem weak .. not sure what the right term wud be but they seem weak in performance .. esp. wifi very spotty ... (no, nothing has changed in my wi-fi home setup)

the biggest improvement imho is the kbd lag gone .. and update android button ...

Has anyone else been getting a ton of Market FCs and freezes and failures since the update? It used to work nearly flawlessly, but now it drags and often fails.

Yep, I keep getting a bunch of force close messages. Also, when I search for apps one after the other, each following search doesn't register until a few tries.

Yeah, I was wondering about that... I'll do a search back-to-back and on the 2nd search it will say (for example) "6 results found" and then below that in the main window it will say "The are no matches in Android Market..." :o And I know damn well that there should be 6 results:confused:
