My phone is broke. I switch on and I get Alpharev boot screen and nothing happens. I pulled the battery after 10 mins, booted into fastboot, tried recovery and all I get is "Why so serious?" The battery is now staying out for 30 mins before I try again. Could this be faulty SD card related?

yes very likely to be sdcard
as soon as i saw that "md5 missmatch" i thought sommat was up with your sd

SD card removed! How do I get my phone back to the living? It charges and will get as far as fastboot, but stalls on the Alpharev screen before it gets to recovery.

I have now been without a phone for 12 hours! :(

Momentus.

Flashing without an sd gets me to exactly the same place and thats no where near recovery. I have tried 4 different Ruu's and 2 tell me they can't update the phone and two couldn't run in windows even though they were .exe files. Running as admin doesn't work either!

Is it possible to flash something through fastboot command?

You could download the PB99IMG and flash this using a working SD card via HBOOT. OK it'll put you back to stock but at least you'll be working

the ones that couldnt run in windows is because of corruption from shipped roms.
download them using a download manager like freedownloadmanager
you can flash allsorts with fastboot

you can flash boot, system, radio, recovery, hboot, misc

avoid hboot misc and radio though

im wondering if your boot.img is corrupted if you flashing recovery and it still wont move to the next step.

ive seen people extract the boot.img from their rom zip and then do
fastboot flash boot boot.img

attach a dynamo to your swingball bearing and go nutts with it like you did last week
youll soon have enough charge :P

Ho ho ho Fo Rizzle! I do have a hampster wheel suitable for electricity sub generation, cant find the hampster! Now after all that excersize I need a bath, meanwhile my phone is still i limbo between fastboot (accessable) and the recovery menu wich it never gets to. RUU's wont flash returning an error about battery life or wrong version. Also I have tried various Fastboot flashes including ripping the boot.img from the rom and flashing, an it still don work!

I'm now going for a bath, my eyes are tired with all that looking.

P.S. I have a hunch that re running S-Off proceeeeeeedure will help. Can it do any harm?

I've tried about 6 RUU's so far. Is there a daddy of daddy's of RUUthat'll just plough through, do the job and not aks any questions.

The bath was lovely thank you.

Use the 2.29.405.5 one in PB99IMG form, should do the job with your gold card

I believe my gold card is the very source of the problem, still it is just the boot partition, and if I format it there is no data to corrupt! I know that's not quite how it works but my brain faces it that way so I don't ask any questions!

In which case get a new SD card or use the RUU your phone came with (if it was branded and is available)

Well big steamin winter poop! CID failed! My goldcard isnt gold? One glimmer of ope is that I have kept the goldcard image somewhere? I'm going to bed, I've been awake for 38 hours and I have no more citrus fruit to throw at the fire.

I see that you found my thread. :)
You just need to clean up your goldcard. First run gparted and remove all extra partitions from it. There should only be one partition, and it should be fat 32 primary. Format it with a full format and not quick format. Then make sure that the name if the file PB99IMG.zip and not pb99img.zip.zip. Remove the zip part and see if windows de recognizes the file. If it does, add the zip part, else leave it as such. Now boot again. It should work. Almost nothing can destroy a gold card once created, but the format must be correct.

so you saying if you partition a gold card it can break it?

The upgrade system of android may fail to recognize the gold card as such. It would be reversible on partitioning it correctly.

Unless some physical error damages the actual sector 0, goldcard would survive.

Thanks, I did all that last night, although I did a quick format, so I'm reformatting it slowly right now. I've also found the image file of the gold card, come to think of it I still probably have the original email from the site. I get the .zip.zip bit my phone only recognizes it if Windows says nothing after it.
