Root Again, Help!! Think my moms phone is bricked.

I'm usually really good with phones I mean I've rooted many phones and put roms on them too, but since day one my mom's phone has been giving me problems. It seems like everyday something new is wrong with it. Its probably my fault for trusting her with all the root apps and everything but I dont know it could just be the phone itself.

So not long ago it had a problem with the zvd update, I fixed that, then she had a problem with it being stuck at the LG sign, I fixed that. Then she started complaining about battery life fixed it too.

Today, I got home from work and the newest problem greeted me at the door, "My phone wont turn on."

At first I thought no biggie, maybe she did something with system apps, I just have to flash a backup. WRONG. CWM wont even boot nothing NADA! The phone itself wont turn on. I tried changing batteries, NOPE! even when the charger is connect it wont show that its charging. NOW im really scared because I know she will blame me for whats happening to her phone. What I dont understand is that I've done everything I've done on her phone to my phone and my phone is just fine. Does anyone think they can help me out?

Please! I'll be up all night trying to get it to work, send me a message on GTALK: marixxaa@gmail.com

sorry about ur moms phone but some guy earlier had the same problem he couldnt do nothing to his phone,i try helping him out but no go ,we cant do nothing if u cant get to cwm or if ur pc caNT READ UR PHONE,THE ONLY THING THAT U NEED TO DO IS GO TO METRO AND TELL THEM THAT UR PHONE WAS CHARGING AND NOW IT DOSENT TURN ON,IF WE CANT GET IT BCK UP AND RUNNING BELIEVE U ME THEY WONT HAVE ANY CLUE HOW TO GET IT ON.WELL ANY WAYS THAT GUY GOT A NEW PHONE JUST HAD TO PAY $30

only 30 bucks? with insurance right

It's $30 for over the counter exchange at a corporate store. $10 if you can wait for them to mail one to you.

With insurance, I think it's $99 deductible through MetroGuard/Asurion.

update! it is recognized by my pc
now trying downgrade with LGNpst

Nice! That was a close one.

If you're worried that she's accidently messing with the root apps, you can use LauncherPro to hide apps from the app drawer so she doesn't get into those apps on accident.

so corporate store? weird i worked at one and we didnt do that, usually i would fix it or ask if they had insurance. But i got fired after they found me rooting phones on the job. Im going to wait on the downgrade cuhs it seems to me that its the screen thats messed up because my moms phone started ringing

lol, I worked and at a metropcs store too and I would have to refuse rooting their phones for customers (or refer them to some guy that I knew who does it as his side-job) unless they were customers that I got pretty close to, but I would put the phone in my drawer and do it at home and tell them "the phone might get messed up and you can't sue me or the store, ok?" I can't believe you'd root their phones in the store! My ASR was always breathing down our necks about doing things by the book and how stores can get closed down for doing unofficial things.

Anyways, yea the corporate stores or warranty centers can replace the device if it's a manufacturer defect for one year after purchase. If they have one in the store to give you, it's a $30 over-the-counter fee, or $10 for them to mail it to you within 3-5 business days. I never worked at the corporate store, but I saw a video where some guy went into a store to do this.

What was the phone doing before the screen died? Did the screen go off all of a sudden? Was it just sitting in her pocket?

Being that I don't have insurance on my phone because I got it off Ebay, will Metro still swap it out or can I add insurance after the fact?

You can only get insurance at the point of activation. I've heard sometimes they do make exceptions if it's within a few days, but unfortunately for you, it's probably past that point.

As for them replacing an ebay-bought phone for manufacturer's defect, that's a good question. If you're the first owner of the phone and the MEID was only activated once by you, I would imagine that the one year warranty is still covered. If you want to know for sure, I would call 888-8metro8.

I know that if worst comes to worst, you can take it up with LG and try to get them to replace it under their warranty, but the customers don't want to take it that far so I haven't heard of any experiences with that. But I have heard from someone that they know of someone that this worked.

Sorry, that's the best that I've got. lol.
