Help Airplane/Flight Mode

I was wondering whether there was a way of accessing Flight Mode using Lollipop via the phone's Settings menu, rather than by pressing the Power Button?

I am also curious as to whether all Android phone manufacturers use the term "Flight Mode", or whether some call it Airplane Mode? I know Samsung uses the former term as I have a Galaxy S4, but what about HTC, Sony and LG, for example?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

In addition, with current HTCs if you go into the settings it is literally the first item you will see: the first group of settings is "Wireless and Network", and the first item in that is "Airplane mode". I've attached a screenshot to show how unmissable it is.

If a manufacturer doesn't have a quick settings pull down (increasingly most do these days) just look in the wireless and network settings and it will be there.

Edit: just checked my Samsung tablet and there it's in Settings > Connections, which given their menu layout is the obvious place for it to be.

It sounds from the above replies that you cannot generalise about how to activate Airplane/Flight mode on Android devices as the maufacturers handle it differently.

For example, from what EarlyMon says it sound like HTCs cannot access Airplane mode by pressing in the power key and bringing up a menu - I thought if devices were running Lollipop then they would function the same?

Like Hadron, I use a Samsung device (GalaxyS4) and can also access Flight Moe in Settings via Connections>More networks.

Do HTCs use the same path?

Wait - you asked for other ways to get to it besides the power button.

I responded to that.

As @Hadron tried to show, the settings path on an HTC is more direct - you go to settings, it's right there at the top, you don't have to go to submenus. (HTC hasn't buried it under a settings submenu since 2010 or 2011.)

As I tried to show, standard Android quick settings allow you to simply use a quick gesture and a tap - and that's the point of quick settings, you don't have to leave what you're doing and go to the full settings.

I think it appeared in my power options in 2012, but again, the point of quick settings is to make getting to common things quickly - and it saves wear and tear on the power button.

Quick settings were first introduced by HTC, adopted by Samsung very shortly after that, and then adopted as an Android standard.

Edit - I just picked up an old phone.

HTC had airplane mode under the power button in 2010.

I think that "Connections" and "Flight mode" are Samsung names - it was always "Wireless and Networks" when I used AOSP ROMs as well (like the AOSP based CyanogenMod that I think Funky is using).

I'm afraid that Samsung tend to be furthest from stock android of any of the main manufacturers.
