Root Aligning EXT3?

Just seen the flashable zip that aligns your ext partition for speedier access.
I created my ext 3 with ROM manager months ago, so guessing tis worth a flash.

Will I notice an improvement? Is it worth flashing?

Be aware you can break your partition that way but an aligned partition is good. Gparted automatically does this so I would nandroid then reparation that way. Try the zip though, if it works, its worth it, so long as you're prepared to go the gparted route if it breaks

So if I copy my SD card FAT32 to my PC, do a nandroid (does nandroid backup the EXT3? - can't remember!), delete partitions and re-partition using gparted, restore FAt and nandroid, I'm good to go?
 
That's just how it works. Do the Nandroid first though so the backup is saved to the pc.

I've also heard nothing but bad stuff about those alignment scripts. Lots of phones not booting after flashing it. Best just using Gparted to create a fresh 1gb partition.

so to confirm, copy fat32, and nandroind is all I need then, recreate the partitions, copy fat32 back and restore my nandroid.
Do I do this with the SD card mounted in the phone or in a card reader, I'm guessing card reader is best...
 
still copying fooking files back to the sd card - forgot how long it takes!!!

is this faster than a memory card reader then?
I think its cos its only a class 4 card, so probable a slower write than read speed.
