All Things Froyo

For grins I plugged mine in to see if the leak from yesterday was the official update. I guess it is.

Mine failed to update. It told me to go into recovery mode. Now my phone has the yellow droid sign and it says Downloading.... It's been on that screen for like 15 minutes. I don't know if it's stuck or what?

Up on 2.2, baseband I897UCKB1 and Kernel 2.6.32.9

most of my apps seem to work, although Beautiful Widgets is getting an error when loading.

Edit to add, all of my music, email, everything seems to be on the phone after the update. The only thing is that the widgets I had before are not loading. I"m just re-adding them.

Also went to tbs.com to test flash and it works!

Finally!

I think the market page for Beautiful Widgets mentions something about that. Check it out, but I believe the fix is a system reset or a work around on XDA.

Yeah, all of the widgets were easily added back. I just dragged the "cannot load widget" to the trash and re-added them.

Yeah, this was a pretty painless process, I do have to say!

I just got it with Kies Mini. I'm using Win 7 Home Premium and never had a problem with Kies mini. The update took about 20 minutes. I did a backupo last night, just in case, but it looks like everything is there. Of course that also means every f'ing piece of bloatware AT&T could put on the phone.
My big question is if voice dialing will work with Bluetooth. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I need to re root, but z4 root doesn't seem to work with 2.2, Any suggestions?
Edit: Just tried the All in One program from XDA, it wouldn't root the phone either.

Too soon to offer Froyo-specific GPS results? My guess: no change from what you're already experiencing, as the final FAQ page makes no mention of it being fixed, enhanced, improved, made more better, etc.

Anyone test the GPS yet? Mine was working from the start but I can't really tell if it's more accurate unless I go on a road trip and see if it gets me lost in the city. :(

I read that some Epic users had to hard reset to get the 2.2 performance. Did you notice any performance improvement?

I noticed a jump on my Quadrant score without having to do a hard reset. The day before the update I was getting around 840-875, and with the update I got 981.

Mine is as accurate as it was before getting me within 16 feet, but it does lock a lot faster now.

Over on XDA I read "no change to GPS" If it worked before, it still works. If it didn't, well... Get a new phone.
