Root Ally memory is always FULL! Even with new sd?!

I have a rooted Ally and I've been running Velocity 1 oc'd.

My memory is always full!!

I cleared cache and dalvik-cache. Cleared download history. Got rid of all but my most favorite apps.
Yesterday I went out and bought a 16g class 10 memory card and today my memory is already full again?!

It's obviously the internal memory that's full...
I've checked all the apps that are left and moved all possible to the memory card.

So obviously there are a few apps I could remove...But with a 16g memory card there should be PLENTY of room! I had a 4 gig memory card and I filled it up, now that I have a 16 g memory card there should be MORE room...right?!

You can quickly fill up internal memory regardless of how big the SD card is.

If you haven't yet, install "Move2SD enabler" and "Apps2SD Free" from the market. They'll let you move more apps over to the SD card. (Just don't move any widgets, or apps that run automatically in the background at reboot like twitter, facebook, weather apps, etc.).

Always try to keep at least 20M-25M of internal memory free.

Ive noticed a lot of people complaining about this lately. The only thing i can think of is that its application data that is cached.

Go into settings/applications/manage applications and look at how much cache is stored for each application, and clear some of it while you are at it.

Honestly, looking at the list of apps on his phone, I'd guess it's a simple issue of the number (and size) of apps he's trying to squeeze into 128MB. Move2SD should open up additional transfer of apps to the SD card, but even with Move2SD, the Ally is just plain limited in the number of apps that can be installed due to the meager internal RAM (compared to many other Android phones).

When installing and uninstalling apps your dalvik cache is still left which makes it seem like you aren't gaining anythnig when uninstalling applications, clear dalvik cache in recovery.

Also, you are expecting too much out of our phone with as many apps as your previously stated installed. If you want space you are simply going to have to get a better phone, sorry.

Also no need for move2sd enabler as the velocity script can do it. You can move dalvik2cache with the velocity script and get some more space. And as GRZLA stated you and i got the honda civic of android phones, small and cost effective aka cheap. Savoxis posted a thread a little while ago with a flashable zip that will keep your dalvik cache nice and tidy by removing excess every boot.

wow I have all those apps except like 2 & more u didn't list & my memory was at like 30% with Velocity, but I'm trying Frunisher right now and with twice as many apps I still have 64% internal memory left

I swear, I'm not trying to get my little Ally to do more than it's capable of. I'm wondering why it suddenly seems LESS capable

If the apps on my sd card are sending their cache to the sd card then why can't I have as many apps as my sd card can handle?

the way 2.2 moves them to your sd card isnt like the old school apps2ext. it only moves part of it (if im not mistaken) and the dalvik cache remains on your phone taking up space. if you really are having problems try wiping everything and starting with a fresh flash.

Would there be another way?I am not rooted and I dont want to lose my current game levels.If I wipe the cahe partition or factory reset I lose everything again and have to start all over again.

you can use app2sd to help some. Sorry there isnt much you can do that I am aware of to backup your game data if you are not rooted.

last I checked, StormDroid had some tricks with the ext partition and A2SDGUI that gave me a ton of free space. I don't have my Ally anymore, or I'd figure out how I did it and tell you. Try asking the developers...

Are you using internal memory for script cache?

I have it default to your sdcard, since the ally doesnt have all the memory.

But if you had an old version and havent wiped since it might be there, try looking with a terminal in /data/velocity

(ls /data/velocity/)
