Root alpharev/unrevoked is here!

Ok. So to remove Bloatware, is it easier to get a custom rom or what?

I tried it with Titanium Backup, and it said something about rebooting twice etc. Well It came up with a screen that showed a blue android holding up a triangle with an exclamation point and then went back to recovery... and at the bottom is said Installation Unsuccesful..(Blockbuster app btw)....

otherways of removing bloatware besides Titanium Backup?

so you have successfully ran the tool, installed clockwork recovery, and flashed the root zip in recovery?

youll need to describe exactly what youre doing, and the message your seeing because titanium should be the easiest way to remove the bloat. id reccomend freezing it first so you dont accidentally delete something you shouldnt. ive never see anything about rebooting twice,or an android with a triangle.

Nevermind, figured it out. I longpressed an app and pressed Force Remove App when I shouldve just clicked the app I wanted uninstalled and click uninstall!

Thats what i get for not using TB in a while :D

So, is there a way to unroot with this rooting method? Buddy of mind used it to root, but needs to unroot to take his phone in for a hardware issue.

there are directions to fastboot a new bootloader and unroot here:
http://androidforums.com/thunderbol...91-how-some-root-terminology.html#post3061599

since you rooted manually you have adb set up and working, and are comfortable with entering fastboot commands, right? :D

his only other option is to hold out until they release some sort of "removal" tool. im sure it cant be too far out,but i cant say for sure how long.

That is strange, I accessed via roadrunner before. Glad you got it to work, hope to hear about you flashing soon!

WOW! Super easy... That Nate Mills video makes it a no brainer... About to start flashing now... just have to do a little reading up first... This forum rocks!

Yeahha... I am in Charlotte too actually...

Yeah, Revolutionary is a great tool. Only advise I would give is when you get the beta key copy it and paste it in a notepad or something, seems to be the biggest issue people have.

Weather is way to hot here recently (all summer long), hoping the humidity drops like they are calling for.

Wow, that was easy! I finally went for it and I am happy I did. Rooting my g-tablet first helped with pushing me "over the edge" on rooting my Thunderbolt. Being able to keep my info was the kicker. Time to get rid of bloat!

I found that I had to select "recovery" from HBOOT after the s-off procedure to get into clockwork mod - Is that the norm? I'm used to booting right into it on my g-tablet.

Yeah to get to recovery on the bolt you go thru hboot. To get rid of bloat you can either flash a rom or use something like titanium backup to remove it. I suggest flashing a rom so when the next OTA hits you aren't pestered to update the phone.

Yeah, I saw your tip in the main revolutionary thread and saved the key...

Definitely too hot... not too many places in the country to escape it lately...

Lol. NJ has mmj laws but they blow ass compared to Cali.

I'm all set and rooted now. Man that was super easy and well the only questions I have I'll save for a different thread at the moment. I don't want to post in here when the answer might be elsewhere.

You have to right-click to copy and when in CP hit the button in the top left to paste. You cannot manually type the info in CP, it won't work.

it actually worked fime for me to type(ive done it a few times now) but copy/paste is easier, and less prone to error. :)
