Root alternate recovery!

I'm just confused. I want to switch to TWrP, as soon as I'm on a perfectly stable ROM....according to Rom manager, it says I don't have CwM recovery installed, and when I try and hit flash the latest cwm, I get promted for SU and it FCs on me. What do I do, manually flash the latest cwm via the link in the sticky?

you can do flash clockwork manually,or you can open your superuser app and see if rom manager is listed. if it is,make sure its got a green + and not a red -

if its not listed at all, go to settings/applications/manage applications, then find rom manager and clear its cache and data.

try and open it again,it should reask for superuser permissions. if it still doenst work, try uninstalling it,then reinstalling it.

hopefully one of those things will work. thats always the order i do things if something doesnt work correctly,no matter what it is. :)
1)check superuser if its a root app
2)clear data/cache and force stop
3)uninstall/reinstall

as a last ditch effort you can try fixing permissions, but be careful with that. it works sometimes on AOSP roms, but can actually cause more harm than good on a sense rom:eek:

Opening SU is impossible I just get a force close...I'm in class until 1:10, I'm gonna go back to the apartment, charge up, and flash a new Rom and see if that fixes everything, is that okay to do??

Yup. Sounds like a good plan :) a couple days ago I couldn't get root explorer to work with blackso5p. Switched back to shiftao5p and it was fine.

Hard to say how lil things get effed up sometimes :)

I hear you on that one! :) I am charging now, can't decide what to do, flash the new Synergy, or BAMF Forever...ugh..decisions, decisions ;)

it was odd. every other root app i had worked fine, and when i opend root explorer,it granted SU permissions, and immediately after gave me the "you are not rooted" warning. i could still use it to look at things, but couldnt change, move, copy, delete, etc.

i tried restoring data, force stoping, even uninstalling and reinstalling. same deal each time. swicth back to shiftao5p and it works fine

*shrug*

i didnt think too much of it... as i thot maybe it had something to do with being a paid app,and also there was some funkyness in the manner in wich i happend to even be running black.(it was ok,but i like shift much, much better)

Yeah didn't think of that could have been an issue with it showing up as a system app. I think it could be an issue with the changes to the source and having OMG source with it, I've always have to wipe system going from CM to OMG to avoid issues with force closes.
