Root alternate recovery!

Same here I actually spent some time this morning randomly restoring nandroids and it seems that it was when I was on sense restoring to aosp it happened, just once as all but 1 of my backups are aosp

Must be a sense to AOSP bug in the recovery. All my AOSP backups were just fine till I tried a sense ROM to play around with.

be careful... that sounds like somethin id do  youll be unrooting and rerooting before you know it :D

I actually deleted all my backups except the 1 most recent afterwards. I was restoring one after the other and decided I really never restore these and they are taking up 10 gb of my SD I think I can do without them. Wasn't as nice as when I deleted 15 gb of CWM backups

Soooooo, apparently renaming backups isn't ok with TWRP? I could have sworn I read it was ok in the rootz thread. Now I'm left with no working backups.

H E A T E D!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Not sure what you are renaming them to but try to take any numbers out of the name, I think that was discussed on rootz

Somewhere around post 115 this is discussed then again on the next page;)

The 7 in CM7 could cause an issue. Try removing spaces. I don't know what the issue is either likely an MD5 sum not matching.

I';m just pissed because I have to be up mad early for a presentation and not having a backup to rely on was a kick in the junk

I usually get about 5-6 a night and I'm solid, but I have to be up at 4 to drive into the city for this presentation. All the work I was supposed to do in preparation tonight was spent flashing/setting up a ROM. Now I'm gonna be up all night.

Quick, someone call me a wambulance ;)

ouch! that sucks, bro. ive always just kept a list, ive never really had the urge to try and rename things.

hope you get somethin figured out :(

Well with that I just went back to cwr. I've been using twrp for some time now but never really had the need to restore anything if I can recall correctly. I did some flashing but that's easy. I like Rom Manager interface, I can backup and walk away, view my backups with a UI and most importantly, trust the backups. I never had a splash screen freeze as I've had with twrp multiple times. And it just seems like the support for it has dropped off the face of the earth.

That's the thing that made me so mad, bro. I NEVER, ever renamed backups in CWM. Never! When I saw in the TWRP thread that it was ok I figured "what's the harm" and started renaming. It still makes me mad thinking about it, lol.

Never renaming a backup again, I don't care if it works for 100 people every time. I can't take that risk

Unfortunately I never posted it, but I had the same problem..

Tried to rename a backup and it disappeared when I went to restore it. Now I just keep my main backup named whatever TWRP decides to call it.

I don't really have a need for 10192019029 backups like some people, Scotty, who shall remain nameless. :D

wtf! i check that thread every couple days, how did i miss this? downloaded and about to flash :)

I had problems with it, I was unable to install Shift 2.0 I would have an error spit out, went back to the older TWRP and have the same error when trying to flash anything:

"E: Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip(bad)"

I have reflashed TWRP twice and I have also tried flashing other things, so It's not just a bad download of Shift 2.0.

Any help?

Edit: By the way, trying to flash the .Shift_2_0.zip doesn't work instead of the shift_2_0.zip
Haha. Simple fix!

guess you were typin while i was... dint notice these :o

so your is your issue resolved? you just had the file named wrong? sorry i dint notice earlier

Usually when recovery gives you an error like that it is either a bad download or a name thing. I usually err in the side of caution and assume it is a bad download. So no reviews of the touchscreen feature?
