Amature Dev Team; I'm Interested in creating one.

Okay, here's the deal. Up until last year I had not made the move to smartphones; I was still clinging onto my old Ericsson lol However due to faulty equipment(Phone was buried in my wall :-)) I was forced to upgrade. So I bought the Optimus V CDMA & fell in love. This love was mainly due to the dev teams in place; MrG666, LeslieAnn & Jerry! Now, when I got the phone & I realized that the OS was a linux based OS I started to go to town.
Honestly, I have to say I have developed my own kernels in secret & not released into public. This was the reverse engineer & prototype analyst in me; & I'm sorry public. My work has got me in the habit into making everything I think, do, dream about proprietary.
Until now.. I wish to collect a development team of amature people to give back to the community what we have taken to get us at the point where we are. My background is of over 17 years of PC experience; I'm a Professional technician in my field & just spent the last 2 years reverse engineering the android OS. Although my coding really sucks I've managed to pull it off. So what say you public?!? Has anyone been interested in creating a gathering of minds?!? If each individual person can do great things...imagine what multiple people would do...This could just be a pipe dream...but its also a goal.

What are some of the areas you have worked on. I Myself have been working on kernels. I'm a speed freak...Everything I touch gets moddified to go faster in some way or another. ATM my rig has a homemade Liquid Cooling system that rivals any on the market(I even have broken records).
I'm all setup with a stable build environment to build. I haven't yet tried building a rom from source yet. This is mainly do to the fact that I need to clone the source first & I have to make sure I have enough space to build it lol
I know it might take a month or so to get a few people together but I really think we can bring the EVO back to life a bit. :-)

I'm hoping MrG666 will chime in here soon heheh

Sounds fun. I have no android development knowledge though and don't have the time to learn right now. Always thought it would be fun to develop a rom though... Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
 
I'd be glad to help test in any way. I too came from the optimus v and have enjoyed work from all the devs you mentioned and a few you didn't. I never messed with kernels but have built my own private build of cm7 for the ov just messing around. Unfortunately I won't be much help ironing things out in the code though cause when I built cm7 most of the hard stuff was already done. Just pm me if anything comes together :)

Edit: oh I've also dabbled in porting a little.

Sorry, I missed this post so far. I would recommend you to learn by yourself until you can build a working ROM and kernel from the available repositories. CM and Evervolv build guides are available for for Evo V/3D. There are also many other guides in the Android forums, here and XDA. After you feel that you have overcome the initial steepest learning curve, I think creating a team could be productive. You can post in the MiRaGe thread when you have questions.
