Android 2.1 Update

Does just what you said. Brings up thumbnails of your 5 homescreens and allows you to jump instantly to one of them.

That being said, you need to hold down on the little page indicator dots for a second or so to bring it up, and in that amount of time, I (or most users) could have navigated to the desired page anyways.

yup, exactly the same as Home++, just smoother animation, but it looks identical, and it's just as useless.

I thought that only like 10k were getting the maintenance update to fix facebook upgrade? right? The rest of us just sit and wait till 2.1 drops end of week or next week if we are lucky.

well if this maintenance update is for facebook then i dont think i wil get it because i went into the market and manually did it

If ya have been following the only people who got were those who could NOT manually update it. There was a problem with the original 2.0.1 update they got that messed up the ability to update their facebook.

The only thing it seems that article had right (accurate) is the size of the update. It is pretty substantial: 60+mb. Even the explanation that it's a fix from buggy 2.0.1 releases and Facebook is a fishy statement. We'll see in a few days.

I used to agree with this except I think that the reason it is that large is because it is like simply installing a fresh, clean, facebook bug free version of 2.0.1. I may not be correct but I think the size matches that of the previous 2.0.1 update.

So anything you hope to gain with optimizations from 2.1 you plan on trashing it with those lame live backgrounds, eh? Good for you. I'll stick with the yucky "dead" wallpapers, but enjoy the speed. ;)

Thank you for telling me how to use my cell phone!
I came from a jailbroken iPhone that supported video backgrounds, and I understand the lag that could be produced.

For those wondering why this update would be so big, my guess is that Verizon simply chose to re-flash the entire 2.0.1 update for anyone that was on a previous patch level.

Why would they force an update to a newer patch level of 2.0.1 just prior to pushing out 2.1? Because Motorola probably only tested the upgrade process with the newest patch level of 2.0.1 (which just so happened to fix the Facebook problem).

My droid broke yesterday so I had to return it and get a whole new Droid unfortuanatley I didnt know of a new update so I didn't ask them. And of course I had to sign into my fb manually but I chose not to sync b4 so it was normal is their any way I could know if I updated before I got the phone? Thanks

i agree with onefix,

i do not believe that this update has anything to do with 2.1...there is NO proof AT ALL!

these are just articles and rumors to bring traffic to their site.

I bought my Droid last friday (1/15) and i was able to upgrade facebook to 1.1.2 and have no problems with it. If i do not get an update then this proves that it has nothing to do with 2.1
