Well, this was a rumour xD
I find it unlikely. But there will be other greats ROMs out there once the root is easier and what not.
Officially, the ones that Cyanogenmod 6 should support are:
- HTC Nexus One
- HTC Desire
- HTC Dream (G1)
- HTC Magic (myTouch 3G)
- HTC myTouch 3G Slide
- HTC EVO 4G
- HTC Hero (CDMA)
- Motorola Droid

Though there is that 5.0.8 test1 build for Incredible users but as said above, he found it buggy. And it is because it is just a test build.
Still no good FroYo ROMs for Incredible users yet I do not think.

YetiROM is a 2.1 ROM - without Sense UI. But it is just an example that people are starting to make more ROMs for this device.
There is also JagerROM which offers 2.1 Stock or 2.1 With Sense UI.
As I said though, 2.2 custom ROMs along with a 2.2 stock ROM will start coming.

Yes, in theory, all phones will get FroYo soon but soon is an interesting word.
Indeed. I am a little confused about this as well.
Either way the ROM he made (unless it was someone else basing it off of Cyanogenmod) was a 2.1 ROM as well. CM 6 will be 2.2, I hope he supports it for your sake.
Or a 2.2 Update comes from HTC soon, either or.

I was also under the impression that the Incredible was kind of a side project; when there was free time, it'd be worked on.

Exactly, don't do this!
It's the same reason why you wouldn't flash a moto droid rom on your inc. It wouldn't work and you'd BRICK YOUR PHONE!
Trust us, it's happened to people before, and we don't want it to happen to you.
Be patient and some 2.2 roms will be available soon. Root was achieved, so will 2.2
P.S. I know how you feel, I'd live for some froyo action, but my cooking skills for roms are about as good as real life. I burn water.

lol i feel you on the cooking roms part although the unlockr video on how to make rom sure does make it seem easy but so does the video on how to root lol but i feel that most ppl just want vanilla froyo with root abilities

This apk installs an Amazon Music app for legally downloading music to your phone. Other than the free song-a-day download, I personally will probably never use it, but it's a good alternative if you are used to buying music from something like itunes.
To install, access this thread from your phone, select the link to download, open a file manager app (like Astro or AndExplorer), search for the apk (should be on the SD card\Downloads) & install from there.
