Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

3 things I have noticed, not sure if they can be fixed or are just bugs.

1. Motion sensor seems to be very slow. When I hold the phone sideways it is ok, but when i move it back upright i have a hard time getting the screen to rotate back to being upright too. Have to sorta shake it around.

2. I use the charging dock. The phone just displays the time now when on the dock, and it is some green color and kinda hard to see. Is there a way to get back to the old dock screen? This one seems like a screen saver almost.

3. Where did the 4 quick launch icons go at the bottom of the screen that stayed there no matter which homepage you were on?? They get rid of those??

i had to reinstall everything. i did a master reset and a factory reset
im slowly having less issues but my phone still freezes
especially the launcher. the error reads: Activity launcher (in application launcher) is not responding. my phone also just shuts off for no reaso

Possibly some other app interfering with it.....

1: Seeing the same on BB

2: That is a screen saver - hit hte home key.

3: Yeah, but KauncherPro (which works well with 2.2) has 3 screens at the bottom, each with 5, that scroll sideways....

also i pulled the battery and now its frozen to where i cant even get to the main page. i really dont know what to do. i have done more battery pulls and master resets and factory resets since i got the update a couple of hours ago then i have ever had to do since i got the phone. i almost want to go back to 2.1 if this isnt resolved soon

Froyo won't even let me do a foctory reset to get rid of my apps!!! I swear every time I go to do anything on my phone now, it's like the phone just does whatever in the hell it wants.

I have been trying to do a factory reset, and before I do I make sure to uncheck the two boxes that ask if you want your files and apps backed up. I uncheck them. But everytime I restore the phone it puts every app that I had on the phone right back on!!

And FYI the reason I am trying to do this is because before when I was running 2.1 the most apps I ever had to "kill" was around 8. Well with Froyo, I have 12-15 apps that regularly open up spontaneously. I am not prompting any of these apps to open up at all, they just are.

So I was just trying to wipe out the apps and start over, but the phone wont let me!!!

Anyone have any ideas??

i would do a master reset. 2.2 isnt working out for me at all

the same way you forced the update. hold the x and power key in when the triangle appears hold the volume up and camera button. use your d pad to select factory reset click on it then go past all the nos till you see a yes and click on it. after it does that reboot it. it will be like you just got the phone out of the box

i feel your pain bro!!!! mine has gone totally ******ed too!!!! im almost ready to switch back to 2.1

Did the deed at 1 AM so I could test before a road trip tomorrow. So been waiting for tethering. Turned off the radio on my laptop, disabled WiFi on the Droid and connected - all fine - until I loaded a web page and got a VZW memorandum telling me how expensive this would be to use.

So is this the deal - $20/2 GB/mo? No other solutions? Argh...

What is the downside to moving apps to the SD card? A little bit of speed? Should I just move everything not speed/time sensitive to the SD card?

does the usb teathering work? its an option but when i use it on my laptop it does not connect to the internet.

and how do you turn the phone on vibrate now? when you go down on the volume, its not even there anymore.

Tethering works - I tested by: turning off the radio on my laptop, no wired connection either. Connect the phone to the laptop via USB. Go into settings, wireless/networks. In there is a tethering checkbox. Check it and you're golden.

My laptop installed a device driver and a minute later, it was working. I had a new IP address and was on the net. Unfortuately, I got a splash screen from VZQ telling me that it was going to cost me to use tethering however. Disabled tethering and reenabled my radio on the laptop. Bummer. Obviously not to use from home, but in future, will cost me if I want to use it. I suppose $20/mo, if cancelable, is better than paying hotel bills daily, but still, a bit steep, esp for metered bandwidth.

First things first, after running the update my phone was very unresponsive and took forever to complete any task. It also would hang up and reboot itself when opening the gallery or going to my contacts. After much trial and error I performed a factory wipe and so far the situation has improved.

Also I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, but LauncherPro Plus was very laggy and not functioning properly but I went to settings and turned off the 2.1 hack for moto droid and then it began to run flawlessly.

edit* - I forgot to mention that tethering brings up a verizon page where it explains their fee's for using tethering but I was able to tether with no problem just using PdaNet from the marketplace.

yeah tethering wont work for me, dont think im missing something but i dont know, when i go to network connections on my laptop while using the phone, it says intnet access, but when i try to actually get on the internet it says connection error.

There are some major issues with this release. These are a few I've experienced within the first hour of use:

1. Streaming audio is outright broken. Slacker and Pandora sound like @#$% since the update. It appears that Android 2.2 no longer supports the AAC+ codec.

2. The new text messaging app is very cluttered compared to the old one. It's not necessary to have a picture next to every single message. The old format was much cleaner, and the Facebook status at the top was much more useful information than the recipient's phone number. The white backgrounds are rather annoying too, as they do not match the theme used throughout the rest of the OS.

3. There is no longer an easy way to select "silent mode" with the volume rocker. The Droid certainly is not "silent" when it vibrates. Who thought it would be a good idea to merge the vibrate and silent mode settings?

4. When you receive a text message from an unknown number and select "add to contact" from the menu, it does not actually transfer the phone number to the selected contact. VERY annoying.

I'm just wondering... has anyone else completely lost their 3G service after the 2.2 update? I'm growing concerned that I'm the only one with a problem this severe as everyone else is posting questions about flash and tethering.

One kinda cool thing that could come out of this is that I may very well be the only person who's Droid thinks it's January 1st, 1970. However, I would like to be able to make/receive calls.

Are all of you conveying these problems to Verizon?

They need to know these bugs and problems are happening so they can correct them before any more OTAs go out... if they don't get notification of problems from early recipients, they will assume it's fine to continue when it's not...

Hi having a bit of a problem here, since I updated my phone its been freezing and forcing close. Was just wondering if there was just a way of going right back to 2.1? cause kinda regretting the whole update now
