Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

My phone has been unplugged for about 6.5 hours and my battery is down to 60%. The display using most of it. I use my text all day and I'm not seeing a significant drainage. Only issue I have is on the app screen the home icon at the bottom, I want it gone, why have it there and on the bottom of the screen itself, they are only 1/8th inch away from each other. I could do it before the update but I cant find the setting now. Everything else seems to be working fine on my end.

There are some major issues with this release. These are a few I've experienced within the first hour of use:

1. Streaming audio is outright broken. Slacker and Pandora sound like @#$% since the update. It appears that Android 2.2 no longer supports the AAC+ codec.

Upgraded to 2.2 yesterday (manually), and I do NOT have the same problem with my streaming audio.

Crap. After a reboot, it doesn't even bring up the blank page when I type in "about:debug". Just no response at all. This is the only buggy thing I've run into so far, but still.

If you are on any of the other 4 home screens but the main one when you enter the app drawer, the home button at bottom of app drawer returns you to that excact screen. If you press the main home button it returns you to main home screen. Makes a bit of sense.....

Did anyone else's Exchange E-mail stop working?

After sitting at "Checking incoming server settings..." for a bit it says "Unable to open connection to server".

All the inputs are correct and the server is running just fine and is accessible by others in the company though I am the only one using the Droid.

Down to about 40% battery life after unplugging approx. 4.5 hours ago. Android OS is still hovering between 25 - 35% of the battery useage chart. Some app somewhere is causing a ruckus.

I am having trouble with the SiriusXM app, it will play for about 20 seconds and then repeat, endlessly...

anyone else having this problem?

My buddy is saying he's having issues with the default music player app, and Listen. Whenever he's listening to music, they keep crashing/stopping the music for no apparent reason. Did not do this pre-Froyo.

This has happened once in a while for me running 2.1, but I haven't been able to check it out yet in 2.2 (Manually updated this morning).

I will give it a shot and see if I get the same sort of thing.

Results: Seem to have the same sort of issue. We may be stuck waiting until the official release comes out and then wait for the app itself to be fixed.

It doesn't seem to happen consistently for me, but once it starts, you have to change stations to get it to stop.

I'm having the same problem as motodoes. Followed the step by step instructions, and after the phone rebooted the firmware version is listed as 2.1-update1. Kernel version is different, and I'm pretty sure the build number is different (ESE81). What's going on?

Some of my paid apps are not showing in the market. Easy tether pro, LogMeIn, and tapatalk pro are just a few.. Can someone else see if they are showing on yours or if it's just mine?

I have a hosted exchange account with 1and1 and it is working fine. Though I did a factory reset after manually updating to Froyo.

only two issues i am having is my landscape view on rotated phone isnt working on home screen like it use too and when i open task manager i am having almost every app running instead of the 4 or 5 randoms ones i normally have running.

I posted this question earlier this morning in the Moto Droid section of the forum, but I'll mention it here as well, as this thread appears well more focused on 2.2 issues.

I have a bluetooth setup in my motorcycle helmet, and since it's inconvenient to pull over to the side of the road to get out my phone and dial, I've been eagerly awaiting the bluetooth voice dial (my Palm Centro didn't have it and neither did the Droid when I got it - despite the Verizon sales people telling me they both did).

I installed Froyo last night (thanks to Trident's very easy to follow guide on this forum) and first thing I did was try to voice dial over bluetooth.

Voice dial over bluetooth works great, but often once the call connects, the phone turns off the bluetooth link (it is still paired, it just switches off, as if I had pressed the bluetooth button in the lower left - the little green bar in the button just turns off when the call connects). Obviously if I have to get out the phone and press something on the screen to complete my call, I'm no better off than if I didn't have bluetooth voice dial. Testing at lunch today, it disconnected in one out of 4 tries. In each case the phone locked when I initiated the voice dial, and sitting on my desk, so there was nothing pressing the screen. Same conditions each time, just sometimes, it switches to its internal mic and speaker instead of bluetooth once the call connects.

Anyone else had this, and or know a solution?

Anyone seeing graphics issues with the "World War" game by Storm8? Sometimes when moving to the different screens (missions, bank, units, etc) the graphics don't completely refresh and there is corruption.

My battery seems to get pretty warm. Also, I pulled the phone off of the charger this morning (7:00 a.m.) and by 10:40 it was at 30%. I checked the battery usage and the Android Email program had used 49% of the battery. Yikes!

The only way to recover was to do a factory reset and restore with the "my backup pro" program I've been using. It wan't that hard to put everything back together. Everything is fine now, and even flash works nice after I figured out I need "App installer" to install the flash .apk file that I saved from the download site. Thanks for your help, John.

FOR THOSE WITH BATTERY PROBLEMS

For me, I think I've solved it...
Go into your Corporate Email, hit the menu button, go to settings. Turn off "Push" notifications and set it to anything other than push. I set mine to 15minutes and my battery was almost instantly relieved. From 8am until 1130am, I lost 85% of my battery. I turned off Push and set it to 15minutes, within a few minutes, the heating issue was pretty much gone, on the back of the phone, and that 15% has lasted me for 2 hours. I'm going to let it die all the way down and charge it up to confirm.

Functionally, this seems to be a major problem right now. I have exchange email at work that always worked fine... but it seems like it was killing battery completely.

Try that... so far, it seems to be working for me.

Ok, my question is kinda random.

The Multi-Colored LED on the front of my phone has stopped working with Handcent and GMAIL Notifier ever since i updated to 2.2

Really not sure what the issue is as ive heard other people have not had this problem. Maybe i should try an uninstall and then re-install?

I have GPS/Location Service issue that no one here has mentioned (yet)...

I'm specifically running Build: FRG01B, Kernel: 2.6.32.9-g103d848 (android-build@apa26 #1). Same as everyone else I'm sure, just wanted to include it in this post.

Basically, after I flashed the thing, everything worked except that the weather widget could not figure out my location and Google Maps (4.4) also had no idea where I was. After testing every fix I have found online so far, here are the details of what I did to try to fix this and what I found out...

I did a complete factory reset via the Recovery console (hold X while powering up, etc...). I also blew away the cache partition. Then, reloaded Froyo from the ROM I downloaded.

What I found was that when I booted in, the location stuff all worked fine (just using GPS, not WiFi). Everything seemed peachy. Then, as soon as I launched Google Maps, it could not figure out my location anymore. I tried this with the Google Maps version that was included with the ROM and after downloading v4.4, no luck.

So, I have to think that Google maps is changing a setting somewhere that is turning off or changing how it thinks it is supposed to figure out my location. I have searched high and low and cannot figure out anything.

Basically, where I am now is that my weather widget cannot find my location, Google Maps cannot find my location (or even my closest cell tower to give me a range of where I am), Google.com says my location is "unavailable" and even the RF Signal Tracker app shows no information related to GPS. But, like I said, I know it is something OS/Software related, because the GPS works after a factory reset and before running Google Maps for the first time.

I hope someone can figure this out because it's driving me NUTS!!! Otherwise, I'm loving the upgrade.

Thanks!
Christian
