Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but my Alarm Clock that used to be in the main menu section is missing. Anyone else experience this?

Also, in regards to the battery problems...I'm thinking a major part of this has to do with the fact that ATK doesn't seem to be working with 2.2. Apps seem to be reopening and running all the time, so I think it's just a matter of waiting until task killers can support 2.2.

1. It's just clock now.

2. Try doing another reboot, and leave it off for a bit (I know it get the twitching awfulls too without my droid, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG MY SON). also I'd get rid of ATK anyway, when I first got my Droidyliciousness I had the windows default mindset as well. I had Taskiller shutting stuff off left and right and it was giving me lots of problems, that cleared up after I got rid of it. Read this http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/18334-task-killer-apps-truth.html
I don't have a task killer any more, just use the option in the settings for stuff like Skype (which I will get rid of as soon as my ex gets back from IRAQ - long story), slacker, pandora, etc. stuff that doesn't have an exit button.

I updated to 2.2 and my Droid still isnt supporting the Activesync policies from my Exchange account. Is there anything additional we have to do to get the phone to recognize the Exchange account as an Activesync account? Do I need my Exchange admin to do anything?

Started with 2.1. Followed Trident's guide to the Froyo Galaxy (Non-USB). Worked as directed for the upgrade. I prefer LauncherPro, but I am torn between going native home, or the staying with LauncherPro.

After effects noted:

Some Sync issues. Only Google mail and facebook are Synch items in my phone. *Disabled Auto-Sync and re-enabled it. Seems to have cleared the issue atm.*

Pandora hangs on playing and loading the app. Seems that audio has been plagued with the 2.2 update.

No change in battery usage noted at this time. My phone needed to be charged anyhow. (No surprise there eh?)

The OS looks to be faster. Menus and desktop are noticeably more fluid.

I downloaded pandora about 2 hours ago and it worked fine for me. I havent had it on any of the droids yet, but I used to on my blackberry. I guess one you get used to the battery life on an Eris, the Droid seems like it take forever to die.

I'm experiencing an issue with the "Wireless Tether for Root Users" app. I can connect using my computer but I get no internet access. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks, Phillip

UPDATE: It is only when I enable "Enable Access Control". I have my computer setup as allowed but for some reason it doesn't work unless I disable that piece.

The software keyboard I've been using for as long as I remember, Uber Keyboard, it apparently not compatible with Froyo. Anybody else who uses this keyboard experiencing the same?

I guess I'll be using the stock keyboard until the dev either fixes it or I find another keyboard I like as much as Uber.

I downloaded the update from google's server this morning. I installed it, hoping that 2.2 would be amazing. I really want 2.1 back lol. For starters, I was normally getting 12 hours of battery life. Afer the update I seem to be only getting 45 minutes. I've completed a factory reset, and still the same. And OMFG the stock android home is so damn slow. I had to install LauncherPro, and it's alright I guess. It's not amazingly magnificent. The Google Voice app can't identify my number, surprise. And I like google voice :(. Like everyone else, you can't get flash from the market. So I'm preying that Verizon will release a more up-to-date version of 2.2. Because I feel like i have Android 1.0. I guess I could call Verizon and play stupid and they'll send me a new phone :). That always works. "OMG I just don't know what happend. It said update, and I was like hell yea, and now it's broken Verizon." Verizon: "It's ok, we'll send you another one." My friend got a new droid the other day for telling Verizon that he had a lot of static when he called people lol wow.

I love the update *except* for one pretty big thing: My 3G service when making or receiving calls is GONE. I usually always use speaker phone and as soon as I hit "send" the 3G immediately disappears and my signal bars drop to zero?? I have dropped numerous calls today and people tell me that I'm "breaking up" when I talk to them. It's so bad, that I've had to get out my old LG dumbphone (2nd line) to make calls from right now.

I did not do any factory resets or a wipe as I read the post about possibly losing 3G if I did, prior to updating my phone.

I have dialed *228 and updated roaming capabilities, pulled the battery etc.

Any ideas on what I can do? While the update is super cool, I need to be able to use the PHONE! :) Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!!

I'm having an issue with asian [specifically Japanese for me] text not being displayed. It shows up as the annoying "?".

I would think that one of the bugs Verizon claims 2.2 has in it has to do with the battery life/heat, right? I mean, the battery life is ridiculous right now and it seems like my phone is always hot even when I'm not using that much.

Interesting...I've heard both sides of the argument before even reading that thread, but I'm still torn on what to believe. My personal view is somewhere in between - things like e-mail, text messages, calendar, etc. should always be running. But for stuff like the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I just don't see how leaving those programs open actually saves battery power. But what do I know? Lol...Task Killers have probably just created a whole placebo effect on us.

Did you do a factory restore while using 2.1? I think there is an issue with this.

I didn't. However, I got the issue resolved! Talked to an awesome VZW Tech Support guy and he had me do a factory reset, after doing several other things. It's working perfectly now. Just have to set up all my screens and apps again. Oh well. :)

Thanks!!!

I followed the exact step by step instructions, however my android version still says "2.1-update1" but everything else got updated such as Kernel version and Build number. My application launch is still from 2.1. Help..
...I had the same problem. I figured out my mistake...when I downloaded the "Update.zip" file ontp my PC, it was listed as "Update", so I remaned the file by adding ".zip" to the end. I tehn placed on my sd card and followed the instructiopns, but couldn't get the file to install. I was about to give up and delete the file, but when I found the file on my sd card is was named "update.zip.zip"...oops. I took off the second ".zip" and it installed perfectly.

As I said earlier, I am going to be making a video comparing the performances in 2.1(unrooted) and 2.2(unrooted). I also thought I would add 2.2(rooted), I am starting recording tonight and it should be up some time tomorrow morning, I will make a new thread when I upload it to Youtube.
