Android 2.2 today?

is it coming out today? I look at the official thread, but the author never updates it. So, can someone let me know if an update will be available today. And if we can, keep it in this thread because all the others have too many pages and aren't very informative.
 
I'd have to say not very likely. Everything at this point is just speculation. The MetroPCS facebook page said something a week or two ago about an update, but a date hasn't been announced. Until then I'd flash to Icarus 1.1 if you haven't already.
 
Meh. Every time someone talks to Metro people, a different date is thrown out there by said Metro people. As always, I'll believe it when I see it.
 
I called Huawei a week and a half ago..he said all he knew was the devs were working on 2.2 for the Ascend but had no idea IF or when it would be released.

The people over at the MetroPCS Facebook page are losing their minds over this haha...

I guess I just have a different take on the update. I will simply wait until something official is released and just use the phone as it is until then. Being impatient won't get us 2.2 any faster.
 
Well the only thing I'm worried about is if they do release it how crippled is it gonna be i had the mototola cliq and when it got 2.1 it was so laggy and destroyed my battery life if that whats gonna happen here with a 2.2 update illustrate id rather have 2.1
 
The other day, i was at a local cricket store. And i was talking to a guy named Matt that worked there, about the ascend and about rooting it. I asked him about the new update, he said there is a couple of updates he said there is 2.3, 2.4 and a 3.0. I don't think he knew what i was talking about.

True. I'm having a blast playing with different ROMS & learning more about smart phones anyway so thats been a big plus :)
 
On Friday I was in a Cricket store to pay my bill. I asked the woman if she knew anything about the 2.2 update. Apparently the store staff has been told it is coming. They have no idea when.

But on a semi-unrelated note, the person I talked with didn't know much about the phone she owned and the phone she was selling. She saw my phone and asked me "how did you get your home screen like that?" I have the Zeam launcher installed. She had no idea there were different launchers that can be used. If she has the Ascend as her personal phone and sells them for a living, she should know some of those things. I'm not sure I'll take her word for when 2.2 will be out.

It is funny how big of a gap there is between people that are just stock users and completely unaware of the customization options for droids, and the those of us that that do. My wife is a "stockisfinethankyouverymuch" person and I am like a gear head with tech. It's not mine unless I have replaced at least half the parts it came with. As far as Cricket, I have yet to meet anyone working at a Corporate store that knew anything past the fact sheet the get. The Authorized dealers can be a little better though, most of those are run by people that at least have some knowledge.
 
MetroPCS We have not announced a date for the release yet, but we will keep everyone updated as soon as we possibly can.30 minutes ago
 
Initially, it was March 28 and then pushed back to April 6. Let's see if they decide to push it back again by next week.
