Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

Hi Stane, tks for c03ref fw!!

I made a quickly evaluate and i have some bugs:
- Wifi cannot connect after replace remote.conf but if i edit this file, wifi works fine.
- Browser crashs one time and needs reboot device.
- Auto update Date & Hour works fine during a moment, now, still in year 1970 and cannot update.
- In 1080P, i cannot see mouse cursor too, this bug is not only 720p
for me.

Tks...

Hi
I'm also same problem in wifi.
Please teach me how to edit remoto.conf file.
Many-thanks.

XBMC is still very alpha. Last I checked there was no acceleration, meaning that devices like this are going to have some issues.

Stane...I'm trying to get the uboot prompt. Any thoughts on how to do this? I have next to nothing as far as uboot experience.

Hello, like many others, I also have a box that identified itself as MBX DVBT c03ref. It has no onboard wifi nor Bluetooth. On a previous post, Stane told another user with the same device as mine to replace the bootloader (aml-uboot-ucl.bin) with one from my original firmware. There was no such file on the firmwares I found for it, so I installed Stane's firmware anyway, using the reset button (20120810_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref-beta1).

Here's my feedback: even though I didn't spend much time with the original firmware (i'm a bit impatient when there's an update available), Stane's firmware runs very fast and stable. The only app I encountered a problem was Chrome, that stopped responding when I tried to enter its settings page. Youtube played videos fine, and the stock video player handled my largest 1080p movies with ease, it's amazing!

One generic chinese bluetooth dongle didn't work, but another one from D-link worked, as long as it's plugged when I turn the box on (like Stane said it should be). But my wifi adaptor was a no-go, it wouldn't work even if plugged before boot (brand "Edimax", model EW-7318USg Edimax EW-7318USg - Wireless 802.11b/g Turbo Mode USB2.0 High-Gain Adapter). USB Keyboard/mouse and remote control also worked fine (after replacing remote.conf).

I just have 2 gripes: boot time is a bit long. After plugging power, the box stays 10 secons showing "A9" logo. Then 70 seconds showing the green android, then 30 more seconds with the shining "android" word. So it's a total of 1:50 before I can see the launcher. Could it be because I didn't replace the bootloader, or is it normal? My box was announced as having an 800Mhz processor.

Second is XBMC. Some other people said it runs their videos fine, but that's not the case for me. While the stock player is wonderful, XBMC is very different. I tested the precompiled APKs from this xda thread "XBMC For Android Nightlies ". Tested both the Neon and the non-neon versions, and the performance was the same.

Edit: one last question: is there any way to properly shut down the box before powering off? It doesn't feel right that the remote control simply kills everything.

Wow, huge post, sorry for that. I'll try to be more brief next time. But I wanted to thank Stane for the wonderful firmware, and the enormous patience to help us newbies out. Peace!

Hi,

why do you need uboot prompt and what are you trying to achieve with that?

You have to solder TTL interface to the board, connect to it and you have to interrupt bootloader when board boots (you have 3 seconds to do that). If you don't interrupt it it will continue by loading linux kernel....

Hi to all,

I have this

Hi, your device is Refee AML8726M3 device (f16ref), but my fw is not working on that device. I would suggest you to contact your seller to send link to latest firmware for your device. After that, try to install it. If unsuccessful, PM me with the link to fw...

Hi, is it possible to make handsfree bluetooth device to work as a microphone ? I tried with mine, is detected as a headphone with mic (at least it is shown like that) and audio is working though the device, but mic is not working, it just doesn't receive any audio from it.... any ideas ?

Thanks.

Hi,

I do have one bt headset, will try to debug this...

So... no luck on the wifi locking up on the C30ref Firmware then? No suggestions? Evertyhing else seems perfect so far.

I don't know what's happening with wifi. I have cpl of mine c03ref devices, wifi works perfectly, had Avipi's c03ref device and he had problems loosing connection with my wifi router (Buffalo)....

Now I shipped Avipi's device back to him and again I can't reproduce wifi problem because wifi is working perfectly on all our c03ref devices...

Will try to figure something out...

Since there are debian and ubuntu distros that support the ARM architecture, and there are some devices that support booting linux via the SD slot, I was thinking how neat it'd be to be able to boot linux off this device. That would require some knowledge of uboot, which I don't have unfortunately.

I see what you're trying to achieve... I don't have time to play with it, but it should go like this:

- you find linux distro which is supported by your platform
- do all partitioning and copying/cloning image files to sdcard partitions from linux
- solder an ttl interface to device and interrupt bootloader to stop booting linux kernel from nand memory
- load linux kernel image from first partition of sdcard (which is supposed to be fat32 formatted) to memory location starting from 82000000
- after linux kernel image is loaded from sdcard you fire up bootm command at bootloader (maybe you have to configure some kernel params, I don't know, never tried it)

That's how it should work in theory, never tried it...

Hi Kongwashere,
I have the same device with the same problem.
In my case, I just remove keyboard dongle connected to all USB ports and the Wifi will be enabled and start working in seconds. I guess there shall be somekind of conflict between my Logitech K400 keyboard and the Wifi.

Hi I installed the new software from Stane and everything is OK no problems with WiFi or other. The only thing I noticed is that I can now install XBMC, I do not know why, yet have not figured. Initially, there were problems with the TV Oćko (Czech Republic) but it was fine.
Stane great respect for the good job and that he has not forgotten the old platform c03ref so that our toys are still very useful and the funny money they're supposed to. Regards

Thanks for the link! i have download but i get this error
https://plus.google.com/photos/114673951529684128760/albums/5779754562199741025

:( :'(

I get the same error when trying to flash my Refee box. Messed up my previous configuration when installing busybox. I was running a firmware called ICS.MBX.20120706 which was preinstalled. I cannot seem to find this firmware on the website of the manufacturer. I also don't get any replies on my emails requesting a link to the newest firmware.

I see. I think that one isn't for f16ref.

I suppose this thread is for your device.

They have new fm.

Nice. Thanks. So basically there's some leads on the board. Any ideas on how to just replace the android on the NAND memory? Same concept I suppose.

Anything on adding more wireless support? I'd really like to use my USB dongle. If not, is there somewhere I could find instructions on how to do it?

thanks before :)

I found my device is this one ATV-102
bluetooth speaker|shenzhen visson technology|card speaker|cheap|good quality|portable speaker

notice it only has CVBS composite output (not YPbPr) to old tv sets (besides HDMI of course) and 4gb internal RAM.
Anyway, link to firmware is unavailable, so I contacted Vission thru email.

here's the full specs

Latest stane's f16ref leaves device bricked. Any advice on how to unbrick?

Are you sure that your device is ATV-108 rev2 (f16ref, or ATV-102 as claimed on Visson page)?

CVBS output does have ATV-101 also and it's c03ref device, pretty much similar to ATV-108 c03ref.

Does your device have USB-OTG connector on back side or any other connectors (mic in) or it looks exactly the same as on Visson's page (ATV-102)?

hey stane! quick question...does this most recent release have uinput enabled in kernel? i want to be able to use the google tv remote service as well as droidmote server and they both rely on that function being enabled...so far this ROM rocks! any luck with getting netflix to work? i saw that artway released a new firmware for their androstick device that fixes netflix. also an amlogic device. any luck at all?
