Android 2.3 on Samsung i551

Of course not .It wont crash.It will hard brick .Unusable . Dont try it please .

hey you all understand that Samsung is not even original 2.3 update brings to gingerbread? I do not even gio, Fit, Mini & Ace have been received, and why not 551? Samsung Galaxy 551 is in my opinion not in the eyes of samsung .. that means they no longer sell the device and no longer to update .. So all mail to Samsung, the more people we send the crazier they make who knows, there is an update! I'm in confidential!

One friend told me that by installing an european version of Kies, you will be able to update to 2.3, since there they already have the update :(
I tried downloading from the UK site of Samsung, Kies, and it still no signs of Gingerbread ;(
 
What he meant was ,flash an european firmware then you may get a KIES update .It's better to flash the european gingerbread anyway

Sounds crazy, but HE SAID THAT. I had my doubts, because by my IP Kies can detect in which country I am, and can also use the GPS of my smartphone to know my location.
Anyway, is it possible to flash the european Gingerbread ROM?, it wont brick my phone?.

It is possible to flash the Gingerbread ROM .
No guarantee however that it wont brick the Phone .That depends on your ability to follow instructions , the stability of your USB cord , USB port and your phone's micro USB port , stability of windows , and so on . However usually it flashes without hassles .One in 10 phones doesnt support gingerbread and may have display problems .

European GB is already out .The rest of the world will get it by March 2013 (Thats the official date when Samsung removes support for Galaxy 551 . )
 
there is also an existing gb 2.3.6 already cant wait to flash it on my phone..currently running on 2.3.4 stock gb...

Yes it is right .Gingerbread 2.3.4 was released on 20th september .The 2.3.6 was released later in November

However I dont have any trust for files(Stock Firmware) uploaded on any website except sammobile.com ,sampro.pl and checkFus .

If you want to upgrade make sure you read the instructions carefully .
Also You will need XEO-KPG version of Gingerbread 2.3.6 just to be on safer side since ,it is the only confirmed version which works on all Callisto Phones

Check my Odin Tutorial Here for flashing/upgrading .
Like mentioneed ,the first 20 seconds and first 5 files(out of 9 or so) of the flash will determine the working of the phone .
