Android 4.0 (ICS) - when?

suppose its better to wait a short while longer to get it working properly.... too much to ask for it to be bug free? lol

also, by the time the ICS update gets to everyone, the OS will be on jellybean by then.. lol.. useless..
 
Seriously dont like how quiet Samsung is on all this... Fecks sake. I like the company in general but I got to be honest I think I will be with Asus soon. At least they dont mess with Android too much giving them a fighting chance to get updates out in a timely manner!
 
I know Samsung are taking their time, but really if you have ever owned a Symbian device you would not complain. Ask an N8 owner how long they waited for Belle on their phone, literally years. If I have one thing to be thankful to Nokia for it is to learn to wait.

ICS will come when it's ready. Give Samsung a break the device is less than a year old. Besides how many owners of SGSIIs will actually update when it does come along ? My guess is less than five percent.
 
If Samsung gets ICS out to existing devices in March they will be ahead of every other OEM. A heck of a lot better than Motorola or HTC. I think we need to keep this fact in mind.
 
I can't see it being March some how, Start of Summer maybe, It one major annoyance with android, I'm on 2.3.5 now I think and its fine for what I want and need ICS to me just looks more pleasing on the eye but then by the time Samsung plunk TW on it who know what it'll look like
 
There are already two very stable unofficial versions out right now. I'm running it with only a few minor issues.

Im running XLPH. Only usablilty issue I have is that when Im using hands free blue tooth in my car, and a second call comes in, the audio cuts out when I connect to the new call. I have to select headset to de-activate and then reconnect. From a smoothness standpoint, there are a few graphical studders here and there and scrolling is not the smoothest. None of it is a deal breaker for me though. Battery life has been good and data connection has been solid (this version automatically loads correct APN settings for ATT, the previous version did not).
 
How do I know if my phone is unbranded? I read somewhere that KWI4 is unbranded but noone's been able to clarify that.

Bang on the money, coming from a long line of Nokia smartphones, couldn't agree more.

I'm on LPH unofficial with no problems, and will flash the official version as soon as it is available ;)

As noted in another reply, the CSC code is the clincher. However if there's no evidence of carrier branding its almost certain to be a generic handset.
 
Guys Just a quick question . My phone is locked on T Mobile I have used the Unlock S2 app with no joy so purchased a code from a site on the internet for

Enter *#1234# in the dialler. Your current firmware (PDA), baseband/mode (Phone), and CSC versions will be displayed.

If it's unbranded the CSC should contain the 3-letter code XEU. If I remember correctly however, you stated in a previous thread that you purchased the handset from Carphone Warehouse? If so there's a good chance the CSC code will be CPW, indicating a non-generic firmware.

You are indeed correct and the CSC is CPW. I'm guessing that in relation to updates, i'll have to wait till CPW pull their finger out?

If that is the case, what can i do to unbrand it?

Need the answer to this myself, a newbies guide would be ideal, sick of Orange crap.
