Android 4.0 (ICS) - when?

I only recieved my Galaxy s2 yesterday, so firstly charged fully then straight on Kies.

Android version updated to 4.0.3
Kernal 3.0.15-I9100HULPE-CL200654se.infra@SEP-94#3
Base band I9100UHLPE
Build IML74K.UHLPE

Edit : Am in Australia but bought an international version GT-I9100

Yes - I can comfirm this. My S2 is an unlocked Bell version (GT-I9100M) I use with Sasktel.

I flashed to the XXLPQ (or XXLPJ) version yesterday morning (from samfirmware.com). Note that it is not a rooted version.

One exception to the upgrade is I've lost connection ability with my Exchange Server at work :confused:. Besides that everyting is working great. My battery life has definetly improved from 2.3.3.
 
I got mine from allphones only last week and i still have no update but how do u use this kies thing

XXLPQ was released in Poland, Ukraine and two or three other eastern european countries. Rumor has it that Samsung will deploy ICS for the rest of Europe between March 19th and April 15th.
Edit: Updates for branded phones are delayed even further. (Rumor!!)

As far as I know, there are no definitve dates for a worldwide release.

Just my two cents on this matter.

(Btw: XXLPQ is really good, you should get it, too.)
 
Guys should i be trying to update through the About phone>software Update or through kies air? If so how the hell do i do so lol never used the thing

If you are on an unbranded phone, you will need to use Kies to get the update directly from Samsung. If your SGS2 is branded most likely the update will come OTA, but I haven't heard of any of them being released yet.

Unbranded phones from parts of Europe (not the UK) are receiving the update now. If you want the update, you can either apply via Odin, or apply that country's GB firmware variant via Odin, then upgrade to ICS Kies.

If you're on the unbranded UK 2.3.4 firmware, rumors peg us as getting our part of the rollout the 19th-23rd.
 
Asked Vodafone directly they said they have the update but will be a couple weeks of testing before its pushed out :-(

Just checking is the 4.0.3 (XXLPQ) on XDA/Samfirmware ok for UK phones, or as we have discovered we are not part of europe will there be a separate uk version available to dowload and update via odin.

I'm running LPQ since it came out and it runs beautifully. So your good to go with this firmware.

Also there will be a UK firmware available, next week??

I'll continue to flash with ODIN cause it's so easy and I don't like waiting for the carriers.

Im a newbie, i want to put official ics version - XXLPQ onto my phone. But i have 5 questions.
My phone was originally from bell - Canada.
Model Number:GT- I9100M
Android Version - 2.3.3
Baseband Version- i9100MUGKG2
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.7-i9100xwkf1-cl265340root@dell106#2
Build Number-GINGERBREAD.Ugkg2

So here are my questions:
1. Do I need to backup my data?
2. Do i have to wipe
3. Can i update through kies once ics version for my country comes out?
4. What if i dont like ics how can i go back?
5. Is it safe
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Same with Telstra. On their website it says they are currently testing it and it will be out early april, so it looks like us Aussies will need to wait a couple of weeks before we get it.

2. Do i have to wipe Not necessary but I think you will WANT to. Its to prevent issues with firmware updates clashing.
3. Can i update through kies once ics version for my country comes out? Depends on carrier as well.
4. What if i dont like ics how can i go back? You can flash back to Gingerbread.
5. Is it safe Safe in what sense? If you do it right, you shouldn't have any problems. Factory reset and wipe would be useful too I think.

hey there, so...if i've got a unbranded I9100, with UK firmware (i think), (XEU) will there be an update this week sometime? will it come through KIES or through the 'Software Update' option in the About Phone section? also, if it's through KIES, is there anyway to do this on a MAC?...so many questions....;)

Well Samsung's twitter still says we'll get it this week, so i have my fingers crossed.

And as a few people have already said, at least we've not had to wait as long as those people with Symbian devices!!! :D
