Ummmmmmmmm, LV, so you're saying people can try ANY of the Miui themes on the Prevail until the run into mentioned trouble ? Without knowing if a particular theme works with the Prevail or not ?

Well, I guess, I just would just wait, till one of the "theme-dev's" makes a "Miui-Prevail-Theme" and tested it and knows it works, rather than screwing up my phone.......... ;)

That's just my opinion..... :)
 
That's the beauty of the theme engine type themes. None of them are made for a specific device. Just a specific resolution (dpi). They don't actually replace the framework/systemui, they work on top of it. Similar to the way you can use icon packs/themes with a launcher.

You're not going to find 'Samsung galaxy s3 blue miui theme' or 'galaxy prevail orange miui theme'.(just as examples) The are four types. Ldpi, mdpi, hdpi & xhdpi. The prevail is a mdpi phone so it can use mdpi and ldpi themes.

And the benifit of having a custom recovery is that we are able to try them out worry free (so long as we have a current backup in case something funny happens... like not being able to unlock the lock screen ;) )

If I remember correctly there's a way to get past the lock screen in this situation. I did it once with the other miui rom but I'm not running either of them now to test. I believe it was to hold down back + volume up.

You are correct. I had totally forgotten about this. I think you need to enable it in settings somewhere though
 
I tried this rom with a Prevail that's still in service. Everything works, calling texting etc.

The part that didn't work for me was the themes. I cannot get any themes to load. Do I need a SD for that? I'm currently without one. I also couldn't get any of the online radios to work from Miui Music. Asked for wifi which I provided and still didn't work.

EDIT:
I tried putting an SD in it. Themes now work. Music still doesn't. Something about "not supported". I think there is a work around somewhere... just need to located it.

As for unlocking the screen once an incompatible theme is used. It is Vol up + Menu in Megatron's case. In Miui it is Back I think. I'm going to go find some cool themes now. Thanks a bunch!

EDIT 2:
I've downloaded a few themes. Having a hard time actually applying any of them. I click on apply, the progress bar shows for a few seconds usually shows in the progress in the low 3-10% and then shows "applied successfully" but nothing actually changes. Not sure what that's about.

ok what you do is get a file explorer that has root privlages
and then goto data/system and creat a folder called "theme" with out qoutes of course and then copy just one theme to the theme folder you you just created in data system but the first time you apply a theme (after fix of course) just apply icons but after that u can apply all theme parts just make sure u use milocker for lockscreen and yes it applys actual themes
 
Ok I got the theme working with the work around. THANK YOU

I hooked my Prevail to my computer and it does not see the phone, I reloaded the Samsung drivers and still the phone is not seen.

I am running Windows 8.1
