I am being notified of all posts in watched sections. I'd assume that the replies to a watched thread would be for only threads that I'm specifically following, but that's not the case. When I logged back on just now, one of the alerts was even that someone started a thread in a forum I'm watching. I don't want to get alerted every time anyone starts a thread in a forum I'm watching.

Can you look into this?
Will this be fixed? It's clearly a bug and very annoying.

Does it help to dial back the alert notification preferences?

The Phaser got that part working earlier tonight.

Go to your red number, upper right on a browser, get the pull down, look for Alert Notifications in the first column.

The ones you don't like still register but you won't get the annoying pop-up now.

I really dislike the fact that subforums are now "burried" at the bottom of the page for the parent forum. It took me a while to even figure this out, initially I thought the sub forums were just missing. I think this makes the subforums much more difficult to find, and will cause people to post things to the main forum that belong in the sub, because they aren't aware of the sub. Need to move the subforums back up to the top.

I already commented on this. It was an option in the old format. I haven't had a chance to check here though.

I just stumbled across the option at http://androidforums.com/account/preferences, labeled "Show subforums above content instead of below?"

Much better now!

Not sure I understand your suggestion. If I turn off alerts then I won't get alerts that I want (like replies to a watched thread). I can't imagine anyone would want a system alert when there's a new thread or a new post is any random forum that you have favorited. It's just silly that's how it's working now.

Go here: http://androidforums.com/watched/forums
At the bottom you can choose notification options on or off for each forum, just check next to each forum first :)
Does that help?

The alerts are kinda granular - I guess I'm asking if it's the popups, do we need more categories to control the granularity further, etc.

I get and agreed earlier that the alert on new thread was other.

I turned off the first 2 options there last night and came back now and had 13 alerts about new threads being started and replies in threads that I've never even looked at. I'm not talking about popup, I'm talking about the red box at the top right.

Clear now? Obviously some sort of bug, right?

Yes I suppose it could be because there are not enough categories, but who would want an alert for every thread started in any forum you have as a favorite or every reply to any thread in a favorite forum?

Did kate's advice help?

I don't know if this has been answered in the next few pages (haven't caught up yet), but I did figure that out.

Now, when you 'Watch' a forum by clicking the star, it will ask if you want emails or alerts for new threads. Forums that were already in the list when we switched to XenForo have defaulted to sending alerts. To disable this, open the 'My Forums' dropdown, hit 'Edit' and you'll go to this page. Tick all of the checkboxes beside each section you're watching, and then go to the 'with selected' dropdown menu at the bottom of the page. You can turn off alerts and emails there. :)

Is there an ETA of when the Edit function will be restored? I frequently add content to my original posts and I'm not happy with not having access to my original content, especially on threads I've started months ago. I've tried using Tapatalk and the Phandroid apps. Editing is disabled on those too. I know others have addressed the issue before but it is very important I can go back and edit my original content.

Word I've heard is that this is affecting some users, not all. It is being worked on. I don't think an ETA is available. If you have content that needs to be added to any of your posts, simple report the post and include the new content in the report. One of us moderators that has editing capabilities (yup, some of us have issues too) will fix them up in the meantime.:)

Couldn't log in at first. Wiped cache & cookies, and it's all good. Like it so far.:p

Things are certainly different especially considering what's missing. Posting now requires very slow deliberate typing since there is no editing, no preview, similar to live broadcasting mistakes and all. Very different.

If you hit 'More options' on the quick reply box, you get the full editor interface with a preview button as you're used to. The difference is that you can't compose in the quick reply box and go straight to a preview - it requires an extra click.
