Android Live Scores

Awesome thread. Just wanted to throw that out there. I wish more devs would use the forums for this purpose!

I'm testing out the Samsung Transform and with Sprint ID, Yahoo has their own package. Live Scores is something I'm interested to play with more and I'm eager to see some of the ideas here being included in the app.

Keep up the great work (and support).

There needs to be an alert sound that can be customized. Right now there is a vibrate and notification in the notification bar, but no sound. I need to have a sound that I can choose from my notification sounds.

It would be a nice bonus if the sound could be different for each sport, but that is not really that important.

+1, if more devs would get direct feedback from their fanbase apps as a whole would be alot better.

Watched part of the Oregon UCLA game...er...bloodbath last night, score updates for what I watched ranged from 20 seconds or so to 60 seconds, still pretty quick overall.

Alright, this morning as college football started Live Scores started sending me scores right off the bat. Then later it stopped sending updates. I hadn't started the app for the day so I launched it and was greeted with score updates for every team I'm following.

Also, this is what I mean about needing team names:

Two new suggestions:

1) For the NHL, there is a "Plays" tab which provides a scoring highlight by period. This sort of feature really needs to be in football too. Right now I've been looking at the stats to figure out who scores. Really the "Plays" tab needs to be in every sport except basketball probably.

2) The "Plays" tab for the NHL shows the graphic of a baseball diamond - shouldn't it be a hockey rink or stick or something hockey themed? I image if other sports have the "Plays" tab it also shows a baseball diamond and not something specific to the sport.

Notifications worked pretty good today, just wish I had heard them! I was out all day and I never feel the vibrate when I have jeans on.

My Vandals won!! :)

Worked great last night too, glad the Yankees are done!

Is there a way we can get the scoring summaries of each team/sport on the same page as the "gamecenter screen", instead of having to navigate to the scoring summary with the tabs????

i hope im explaining myself clearly

I love how the score updates work even when the app isn't running.

Can someone please explain how this works? All other apps require the app to be open or a widget to be active to get updates. Are you saying that with this app I can select teams I want updates for and then close it out w/o any sort of widget running & I still get notifications? Even if I reboot my phone and don't start the app or anything concerning the app I still get my updates?

Yes to all of your questions, the developer can probably answer how. I think he said it doesn't run as a service, but I think that'd be one way. And I think sportstap and google live scores both work without having to have the app or widget open.

Also, just for the record, I didn't get the first notification in the Giants game tonight until it was 10-0 late in the first quarter. No start of game, no first 2 score updates.

Since then it's been perfect. Not complaining because the updates have been super. Just providing data points.

First score update was late in the Blue Jackets/Flyers game as well by about 15 minutes, then perfect afterwards (this was probably around 7:45 EDT tonight).

Thanks Kabob, that's definitely an issue. I'd love to put team images in front of the names, maybe at least team colors? I'll see what I can do.

Agreed. It would be a big help if users could spread the word about this thread. Feedback here is much more useful than feedback on the market.

You're right - I just logged a bug.

Nice job on the new notification options, in particular the Qtr option for basketball.

What are these game check-ins now? Where are check-ins accumulated from? Other Yahoo properties?

Care to give us some hints on what's next?:)

Hopefully, you have different notification icons for different sports on the list somewhere. When I tried the google app, I really liked that and found it helpful.

Just released 1.4.5 - see notes at the thread-head.

Got the update, thanks. Also followed you on twitter to keep up with updates.

Will there be changes made to the notifications in the next update? Really need audible notifications, and it would be nice to choose sound.

Also will there be an ad free paid version? I always buy paid versions to get rid of ads when available.

Just downloaded the update and came to see what had changed.

One bug thus far, starting the app it takes you to whatever sport you're following. Hit the back button once and it doesn't quit the app, it just puts you in the loading screen. You can't access the menu or anything, only thing you can do is hit the back button again or you're stuck in limbo. Not that big of a deal, but something you might look into.

Other than that I haven't had a chance to check the other features, looking forward to it!

1) nhl standings are a points system. currently the standings in the app are on a "games behind" basis. just throwing that out there. and i know that its nowhere near playoff time. but itd be nice to show a playoff seedings by conference in all sports that do a #1 seed through #8. (NHL & NBA).

2) not all sports need a line score (except baseball)...throw team logos in there with the respective points next to the logos. the football field underneath, drive (ex. "1st & 10") all the other good stuff.

3) would it hurt to put the scoring summaries underneath the game info? (same screen as where the baseball diamond is)

4) needs a widget, as i know others have stated, and youve addressed.

5) i notice that you kind of have a UI going with the check-in feature. It wouldnt look bad to continue that UI and integrate it with everything else. ;)

Maybe im looking in a little too far with development, but just some ideas for you.

You can thank the new Android developer for that - I think he's snooping around this forum somewhere.

Check-in is social component. A form of representing your team, letting others know you're at the game, physically or in-spirit ;) It's not complete on Live Scores yet, future releases will let you see yours and others comments/check-ins.

Currently these check-ins and comments show up on the iphone sportacular and facebook via Citizen Sports on Facebook app and will show up on live scores once we get facebook integration complete.

Care to give us some hints on what's next?:)

Widget and Alert sound are currently planned for the next release 1.4.6.

Definitely audible alerts.

No plans for a paid version yet but you never know.

Yeeaahhh... I caused that bug... There was a problem on some phones where when you would exit the app by hitting the home button, the app would close rather than minimize and then when you start the app it would start up in NFL (unless you selected a default sport). To solve this we had to do some trickery which caused the user to have to hit the back button a second time when backing out. I'm already looking into this but I think most users don't back out of the app so not sure how critical it is yet, we'll see how many complaints we get. ;)

But definitely a bug.

That sounds great.

I don't care about the alert sound personally, but I did bring that up in my very first post here and can definitely see people wanting that.

Am looking forward to the widget! Be interested to see exactly how you implement it. There are a lot of ways to go with a sports widget.

I'm handing the widget off to the other Live Scores developer (yeah only two of us haha - was just me for so long so can't complain). We we're just chatting about implementation and we're thinking maybe allowing multiple 1x2 widgets where you can assign one of your favorite teams to the widget.
