Android Live Scores

I have been watching college basketball here lately and noticed that if there is overtime half one and half two reset to zero and the total just updates. Maybe you could add an ot field?

Is auto changing the widget to show the next game up by default on the agenda?

That would be nice to have.

Has this been done, either by the latest update or on the server?

I don't remember touching anything after the Knicks games last night, but the Islanders game is now showing.

If you did do something, care to share the exact logic?

:( no. i dont. it was showing while the game is in progress. but once the score hits a final, everything disappears.

Yep you're right. I was just talking with the developers working on that code and apparently there were two bugs. They fixed the in-game, but post-game is still broken. ETA on that fix looks like mid-next week.

Sorry about that.

The logic hasn't changed. The widget should switch to todays game.
Was it not doing that before?

Yes, but that's not what I want. If I have 4 favorites that are in my widget, I want it to scroll automatically to the team with the next game up.

See a few posts up, someone else described it very well.

If there is more than one game going on at the same time, which game would it choose?

if there was two games going on at the same time....

example
flyers are playing, as are the 76ers for basketball.

- flyers start first @ 7 eastern time. sixers start @ 730. (widget should default to the flyers game at the beginning of the day, because it starts first)
- sixers start (widget switches to sixers)
- flyers score, sending an alert through. (widget switches back to the flyers, because that was the alert)
- first quarter of the sixers game is over (widget then switches back to the sixers).

so on and so forth. that might take a huge toll on the battery. but ideally, i think thats how it should work??? thats my own opinion though, there may be better options out there.

oh, and the widget needs to automatically switch to the next scheduled game the NEXT day after the previous game @ noon. regardless on whether the next game is a week away. (i mean the widget still shows the previous score on the very bottom of the widget.)

write out the dates. (February 10, 7 pm NOT 2/10) looks more professional :)

just my input......feel free to tear me a new one if you have better ideas.

Either one, it's not that important, both are favorites anyhow. It just shouldn't stay static on one team that might not play for a few days when I have a different favorite playing sooner.

Good idea... Not gonna happen ;)

If there is a game going on today, it will show that game. So it shouldn't favor a game that is days out if there is a game today. If you're not seeing that, then its a bug.

Ideally this is how we would like it.

Example: the Lakers play today and the redwings play on Sunday. The day after the Lakers score goes final, it should switch to yge redwings game so we know when our next favorite plays.

Right now, it stays on the Lakers till Sunday morning.

So, if Islanders played tonight and don't play until saturday again, but the knicks play friday, the widget will automatically scroll to the knicks at some point on friday?

If you say it's coded that way, I'll have to keep an eye in it and see if it's doing that.

That is what I'm told by the widget guy. If you don't see it happen, then let me know. Thanks!

Ok. I posted the other day asking if anything changed to make it work the way I just described abovebecause, for the first time I can remember, that's what happened the other night.

I'll continue to monitor that.

Amazing app and loved this on the iphone and just came to android but am having really frustrating battery issues with this app with android...see screenshot below...came to work at 90% battery now its at 24%..

I have personally never seen that kind of battery drain, but I have only used the widget a couple times (NFL regular season) and I have never used the check in feature, also location is turned off. Maybe one of those things are causing it to use so much of your battery.

Not sure, just giving my input on my experience to help Aaron narrow it down

I am the widget guy.

Currently, the widget has no logic on what to show. It simply remembers where you were, and renders that game when we get updates.

I see a few thoughts going on about this:

1. Render the next upcoming game
2. Switch mid-game

I can understand 1, but 2 is a no-go.

My only issue with 1, is that sometimes I don't actually see the end of the game, and switching to the next upcoming one would force me to scroll to check out what happened. I'm more in favor of it just staying where it was, and having the user scroll to update. As in, you chose to watch that game, so I'll leave it there.

We will probably make this an option, but not in the next immediate release.

How many and what are your teams for alerts/widget? We do poll every few minutes if a game is active. But that's a bit ridiculous.

Well... I have team alerts for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Utah Jazz NBA Basketball and Utah Utes Basketball....I disabled all alerts and widget and will test after I fully charge back up again....

I had 2 favorites playing today and it reminded me of a previous request. It would be great if you could have a different notification icon by sport or even by team. When I have 2 favorites going and get a notification, there's no way to know who it's for without dragging down the bar.

Any chance that's on the roadmap. I think one of the competing apps does this.

I just looked at my battery usage and now live scores is number 1 on my usage. Never noticed it before and I don't have any Widgets or notifications right now.

I've never seen that before either.

I keep a close eye on our wake-lock usage and its rarely in the wake-lock list and when it is its at the bottom.

A wake lock isn't necessarily using up CPU, its just keeping the CPU from sleeping, which effectively drains your battery but this would take a few hours (no excuses here, we'll definitely look into it). Do me a favor though, check out CPU usage and see where Live Scores falls in the list.
