Android Live Scores

I'm not sure I understand why. The functionality is already there within the widget to display scores for favorite teams. Why not just enable all scores to be scrolled through on the widget instead (or in addition via an option)?

You say why not just open the application. Kinda defeats the purpose of having the convenience of a widget.

Widget is for a glance, entering the app is for details. Showing scores for your favorite teams at a glance covers +99% of our users' needs.

You can't say the functionality is already there until you look at our code. ;)

For example:
We need to allow the user to choose a league(+work) which takes up valuable UI space. What if you have favorites selected, do you show all or do you show favorites? We could add a check box (+work), but then the UI becomes confusing, do we gray out the favorites you have selected(+work)? What about the extra load on the server for all the extra data that has to be communicated to show all the teams (+work, +server load). What about all the negative reviews from people that don't like that they have to click through a hundred games to find the game they want(-star rating).

I just came up with this in 2 seconds, when it came time to actually implementing this, we'd probably find more issues.

Work + Testing costs time and we already have a lot to do, so we have to focus on the highest priority items first.

We certainly can't please everyone, but we do the best we can to please as many as possible. I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just saying it's not in the plans right now.

I completely understand. Although, I think we'll have to agree to disagree about showing scores of favorite teams at a glance covering +99% of your users' needs. ;)

To me, the best applications are rich in options and features. The more choices presented to the user to maximize personalization the better if you ask me. Does that mean more work for the developer? Definitely. Does it mean coming up with a UI that plays to the strengths of this customization? Absolutely. But, that's what developers and software designers get paid for isn't it? ;)

By no means do I dislike your app. Quite the contrary, I think it has more than enough information for most sports fans. I just happen to be one of those users who prefers to see all scores on my widget rather than just a subset.

Thanks.

Any new development going on over here?

Care to give us some insight as to what's coming next?

A competing app just add push notifications today, so there's another option for that now (well, except that it FCs on me at the moment).

Sorry if this has been asked recently. I skimmed through the thread, and only found a mention of it being worked on - Does this app have true push notifications through the google push service?

(I am guessing that the post above mine is mentioning that this app doesn't have push notifications?)

Couple of suggestions ....

First off, I have read the whole thread and looked at the suggestions made by other people so I'm not that far off base. Here are a couple of things that I think a consensus would agree on.

1. Change the notification tone. You don't have to make it chooseable (would be best) but if you change it to your tone, we could then Change it ourselves using root explorer. I keep track of 30 games every Saturday during football season and it would be nice to tell a text from a score alert. Please reconsider this.

2. Push notifications. As I understand it you have the app check for updates every couple of minutes or so. Using push notifications would make it almost instant on our end. Sores mobile recently added push notifications and side by side comparison it beat live scores nearly every time. I tested on two MLB games. Live scores still is a better overall app experience for me though.

3. Widget. Please consider having the widget automatically switch to the next game being played a day or so after the last game has finished.

4. Select sport ... maybe you could add a screen to show all the games you have notification set for. Or better yet, in the alerts tab make an option to show that game on a separate screen. Much like you just added favorites and trending. Maybe call it your picks or something ...

Thanks for having the best scores app on the market and even taking the time to come to the forum and receive feedback.

These are the 2 things I have wanted for a long time. Push notifications have been around for over a year, I am REALLY surprised that any apps don't use them and choose periodic polling instead. And user selectable notifications have been around since before I switched to android 2 years ago. IMO any app that doesn't use these 2 things is way behind, but this is still the best sports app I have found on android... Pretty sad for sports apps.

I agree with everything you said!!!

It would be really nice to have a separate tab for all the teams to show up you had notifications for (without setting them to favorites, as not all the games I set up alerts for are not my favorites).

Alert tone would be my second favorite thing to be implemented. (however you can do it.)

Push notifications are wanted by everyone me thinks :)

Thanks!

hellooooo,

long time, no comment...
just thought id drop by and ask what's new with the app. Been awhile, and really no problems to complain of. Whats next mr. developers??

Maybe off topic, but this app looks interesting and I have not used it. How does it compare to Score Mobile?

Where have the devs gone??? i miss hearing from them. Hopefully hard at work and the app hasnt been dropped from development.... :/

Problem tonight.

Mets are a favorite.

Widget is updating, but I'm not getting any notifications.

Anyone else having problems?

Still no notifications for today's Mets day game.

I was not getting any notifications last night for the Yankee game either...i actually deleted that app...

and why is the thread called Android Live Scores when the app is called Yahoo Sportacular?

also, another reason i deleted the app, is becuase when the notifications were working... the app only informed me when my team scored....not when the other team would score....Whats up with that?

That never happened to me.

Notifications have been working for some time now, until yesterday.

I don't know if this has been back burnered or something at this point.

I also emailed the address listed in the market, but haven't heard anything back yet.

In the Market, they are starting to pile up negative reviews and comments about the update no longer working.

Hopefully, this hasn't been abandoned and someone will take note soon.

negative..... scoremobile does. i HIGHLY suggest them. although, they dont have a fav team widget. but in emails exchanged with them, a 4x1 fav teams widget is in the works.

hope it helps all of you guys out.

and also, any email you send them, you get a response in like 10 minutes. atleast thats my own experience.

I tried scoremobile once. 4x1 widget would be nice.

But, if I recall correctly, I was unable to turn off either vibrate/audible notifications and that was a deal breaker for me. Is that true?

I don't consider having to turn off those things in my general phone settings a solution.

I really hope Yahoo! hasn't killed off this project.

Just re tested scoremobile and I get a vibrate and notification sound. How is this not a deal breaker for everyone? Mets are on west coast more. I don't want an alert at 2am. I also don't want to turn global notification sound off.

ehhhh. its does not have those options. only thing i can think of is to utilize the option of 'pausing alerts' under the settings menu.

these push notifications are very new to them, so im sure we'll see more configurable options from them soon.

as for Live Scores go, I REALLLLLYYYY hope that they're not done with this project. I've googled high and low to see if there was any news on it. this app is like literally 2 fixes shy of being 'the shittizzle'
