Root Android System - NOT a 3rd party app - causing phone to hang.

I've been monitoring my phone using Watchdog Lite ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zomut.watchdoglite ) for the past 4 days - it's showing that what is hanging the phone up is actually the Android System, NOT some app that I have installed. It's done it at least a dozen times now. It's logging extremely high CPU usage by the Android System.

Doesn't seem to make any difference how I setup the phone (I've done it probably a dozen times now), and whether or not I am using the Esteem Optimizer app. Also, I have wiped both the internal SD as well as the external SD. The symptoms seen are LONG (2-3-4-5 second) pauses between doing things, or when launching a new app that is not already running, and then the app won't even always launch - just tends to hang at a black screen. Oh yes, I have also done soft as well as hard resets.

Starting to sound like LG should be owning the issue. I'm hopeful (but not holding my breath) that once we (*IF* WE) get CM that this problem will go away.

[EDIT]
Here's the apps I have installed other than WatchDog Lite.

Adfree Android
Adobe Flash Player 11
AudioManager Pro
Box (box.net app)
Dropbox
Equalizer
Facebook (NOTE: Was not running during any times that the phone hung - I kill it with the included LG task manager when I'm not using it)
Gmail
Google Chrome to Phone
Google Maps
Google Music
Google Voice
Google+
Keyboard from Android 2.3
LG Esteem Optimizer
Quadrant Standard
QuickPic
Rhapsody
Root Explorer
Slacker Radio
Speedtest.net
Street View on Google Maps
Superuser
Twitter
WidgetLocker (installed but not being used)
Wifi Analyzer
Wireless Tether for Root Users
YouTube

I'm aware that it's android system eating up the cpu. specifically akmd2 (a linux process that polls sensors). The optimizer app makes it poll less often to it's capabilities and this makes it use less cpu, extending battery life.

I'm experimenting with killing and restarting the process with a sort of notification bar toggle, but first I've got to see if killing it will make the logs go crazy logging errors and eat up the same if not more cpu lol...

It comes down to a crappy sensor driver, but i'm seeing what I can do about it.

wow, I really need to go back to my Optimus M don't I? They can't even get their system files working properly? How many months before LG fixes their bs? How many months before they stop supporting the phone? What happens with all the other issues that won't get fixed when LG pulls the plug?

I'm grateful for guys like you. I wish more of you would help the rest of us learn how to do this stuff. I'm a good technical writer, so I can work with someone to make nice tutorials. I'd like to help out. I'm sick of companies screwing us all the time. This is the only place I can go with real people, not shit like Cnet or Maximum PC that are just mouthpieces for tech companies.

I appreciate all the work our devs put in; I hate the companies that give us beta bs and make us go through all this trouble to make their products work properly. Why don't we own the companies? Why don't we make the decisions? I have answers for that, but I don't want to get into that here. I just wanted to call the questions. =)

Damn!! I've read most, if not all, of your posts since you've been on this side of the forums and I have to say, I think you just got a bad phone (happens all the time with tech gadgets) as I have not experienced half of the problems you are describing. This phone destroys my old Optimus in all aspects (besides roms and the like) and I have never once thought of using it again over my Esteem. If you just bought the phone recently maybe you could take it back and get a new one. Other than that, I'm sorry you're having so many issues with your phone. Recovery is currently being worked on and custom roms will soon follow so hopefully some of the problem will get sorted out. I hope, with all of the knowledgeable members here, you get a usable product. I strongly believe in getting your money's worth out of a purchase, especially when you're paying close to $400 out-the-door and you have to do what you have to do to be satisfied, whether that means demanding a new phone or getting your money back for something else.

But, I keep getting bad phones... =( I mean, really? You could be right though; I am a bit of a techie just comparatively recently gave a crap about android though. So, I know that is possible that I keep getting bad devices. But, I'm starting to think most of us get bad devices and a few of us get good ones...

As an aside, conditioning works best when reinforcement is not always positive or negative but a mixture of both. I'm not saying LG and Metro are adapting classical and operant conditioning techniques and applying psychological warfare tactics to their business practices in 2011, but we know that other companies do this and we know it is possible. Basically, my experience with metro has been bad and LG has not won any points with me either.

I'll see what my attorney comes up with. I'm so sick of dealing with Metro. I don't want to hear their voices or see their faces. I certainly do not want to wait an hour or more in a line with other customers for my chance to rant.
