Hi,
I have a relatively inexpensive tablet running on Android 4.0.4 (Baseband Version 1.5) (Kernel Version 3.0.8+)

I really only use the tablet in WiFi areas when I am on holidays in my apartment in Portugal.

Is it ok to leave the tablet in my apartment permanently, given that it would not be switched on for 7 months at a time?

should be fine. i would completely power off the tablet though. and you most likely will need to charge it whenever you come back to the apartment before you can use it as the battery will slowly discharge over time.

Forgive my ignorance, but it's not like Windows then - and I'd have a million updates to download?

Yeah, battery drain would be your biggest issue, if it's allowed to run completely flat and left for any extended period of time, you'd have a hard time switching it on again.

Re. the updates, Apps would probably need updating, but as for the core OS itself, that's entirely dependant on whether or not the manufacturer has rolled out any updates since you've last used it.

If it's an off brand one, it's highly unlikely.

So, looks like the answer to my original query regarding leaving for 7 months is - DO NOT!
Battery drain would mean I would not be able to switch back on , even if connected to AC power. Correct?
