I updated to the first leaked GB a few days ago and i now want the rooted version. Since I already updated ive read that ill have to SBF back to 2.2 or something like that? i follewed p3droids instructions and RoOoLeRs also, but i cannot get it to work. I downloaded the system SBF and RSD lite 4.8 & 4.9. The problem is that when i try to use RSD lite i can select the SBF file and it finds my phone, both in and out of the bootloader. If im right it needs to be in the bootloader to flash? But the start button in RSD never becomes selectable. Any ideas?

any chance you can flash the sbf from a linux machine? seems like everyone has more success from linux. also are you using windows 7 64-bit? i've noticed that seems to cause a lot of problems.

Well i just installed ubuntu on my computer a few minutes ago, i had a few of the cds laying around so i installed the newest version. I tried using the terminal to flash it but it didnt work. Im not experienced with linux at all. If anyone could point me to good directions or give me some thatd be great. But i cant get wifi to work on ubuntu, only on windows, so i have to research on windows then restart and boot into linux, which makes the whole process even worse.

Just do it while you are in the bootloader. It will make it a lot easier for you. I would also use the full 2.3.340 sbf file. This way you are all ready to move to the rooted gingerblur.

I performed the SBF on linux and it was successful, but after booting i got an error saying gmail had stopped working so i rebooted. same error. and the phone wont do anything but show the status bar. I guess ill try a hard reset.

Edit: Hard reset solved the problem. Not sure if i will attempt to flash the rootable GB tonight or not, pretty exhausted from this SBF nonsense...

yeah, i had some problems after both of my sbf's also. a factory data reset seemed to clear them up. including the gmail force closing.

It would be nice if there was a standalone app like Z4 that could do this on the device.... Just sayin, (again)
