I'm not 100% certain, but I think that to get this method to work you will have to find a way to downgrade your radio to a froyo version then try the unrevoked son

This is the thread I found in the Incredible forums http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/506066-help-unrooting-s-tool-throwing-error.html . Don't use the radio from this or that will brick your phone, but I think the process may be what you need to do. Can anyone else say so or otherwise?

Okay, sounds good...Now I just need to find a Froyo radio.

Would it just be easier to flash a Froyo ROM to get a radio version that would work with this S-ON tool?

If the ROM has the radios included I don't see why not...however might be better to wait for one of the guides to confirm its gonna be okay to do that

Okay, sounds good...I have been searching for a stock Froyo ROM on this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10021275&postcount=1) but I don't see anything that actually says "Froyo".

Those are ruu's listed there, and the ruu has to be the same radio or a newer radio to work.

I have not heard of any rom, froyo or otherwise that comes with a radio.
Radios have to be flashed separately.
So @jl79, the issue right now is the s-on flash giving you this error?

Okay, and yes...that is the correct current issue.

I'm curious being that I'm on Gingerbread that if I have to downgrade my radio to get the S-ON tool to work will that brick my phone before I get the chance to run the S-ON tool and the RUU?

Also if I do have to downgrade the radio will I need to use a different RUU to match the downgraded radio?

I am not sure, honestly. I am researching this as we speak (while working ha ha :) )
I don't see why downgrading your radio wouldn't work, you can still use the same ruu.
It won't brick your phone to flash a radio, HOWEVER, if your battery dies, or you pull your battery in the middle of a radio flash, you will have a brick.

Trying to find a different radio for you atm that may work...still researching my friend :)

the only way to brick the phone with radios is if you take the battery out while you are flashing it.

did you find the right radio?

also curious as to how you originally rooted the phone.

Thank you my friend...I really appreciate all that you are doing for me! I thought you had to use an RUU that matched your current radio version for it to work correctly?

Anyway, I do have to run out for a few hours so I guess my plan for me sending the phone back out today is not going to happen. Once again thank you so much for helping me with this issue...I really do appreciate it!

I have not found a correct radio yet. And I can't for the life of me remember how I originally rooted the phone. It was back when you would go to a website or something...I thought is was unrevoked.

do you remember if you flashed the unrevoked forever .zip? or not? if not then running a ruu should get you s-on. if i remember correctly.

I honestly can not remember. But I would love to be able to do it in one step by using the RUU method.

So yes flash the radio first that is linked in captain's post. Flash the son tool then run that rush and you should be unrooted.

Okay, sounds good! I can't remember...do I rename the radio PC36IMG to flash it with bootloader or just leave it as is and flash it with AMON like when I flash a ROM?
