Root Another update?

Just checked my wife's prevail as she runs straight stock and her baseband says FF19. She got the update sometime in past week.

I suppose you could do a Kouma ODIN Pack backup of her phone and then post just the phone.tar baseband

We could then use Odin to install it and see what happens.

I believe that would not include any info specific to her phone other than the new baseband.
 
as small as it is it prolly just changes the modem and that is why everyone that accepted it don't even really notice it. try checking in settings/about phone/ and it will be listed under baseband version. it will say ff19 if you updated.

Using my Prevail I did a back up, ODINed to FE16 Stock and let the update happen before i passed out last night and restored my backup just now. Figured I'd check here to see if anyone beat me to the punch as for the phone.tar and sure enough someone did. So far no real noticable difference in signal strength but I get spotty reception where I am. We'll see how it does with my daily travels.

Edit - I thought Infirno's post was the phone.tar and not the whole update zip from Samsung. My bad.
 
No, this is the update direct from samsung. I have family in town, but I'll flash it and rip the phone.tar later unless someone else beats me to it. Just short on time right now.
 
So yeah here goes! Do I gotta install tha fe19 update cuz I'm running CT mod 3.68 so I would install the rooted zip correct and how would I do that in recovery? Than ahead of time!!!

Bloodawn has done a great job of supporting his ROM.




As there has not been anything necessary from this update, personally I will wait to see if he thinks this is worth the time to patch CTMod.

If you just want the new FF19 baseband download Kouma's zip (a few posts up from this one), unzip it and then follow the instructions here

EDIT - Reading the linked thread to the end will tell you to not Odin "one package" the phone.tar so don't. Make sure the box for "one package" is unchecked/blank/empty, select your .ops and the phone.tar only.

I guess I'm a ******, because the instructions in that ^^^ link aren't making sense.

To Install Baseband:

-Put your phone into download mode check
-Connect your phone to your pc check
-Open up Odin and select one package check
-Select Your Ops no ops in the zip
-Select phone.tar option greyed out
-Hit start

I see if I don't select one package, I am able to select a phone.tar only.
will this work without an ops?

Download another zip from the Odin thread
If you got Odin from someplace other than this board, you have an incompatible version
 
Got it, thanks for the help :)

Doesn't seem to have helped my nonexistent Boost signal here on the homefront though :mad:
 
Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.
I'll do my best to fully explain from now on so no one feels like a ******
I used Odin 4.43 from the FE16 rooted image zip (which also contained the .ops I used) and so far FF19 has not been worth the trouble for me. It's been worse.
 
OK so I'm running CT Mod 3.68 if I wanna install Koumas ff19zip update can I just do it like I would a from or theme.zip in cwm? Hope that's not too dumb of a question!!!
