Any Concern Over Pentile Screen?

I had thought that the GNex would have had Samsung's SAMOLED Plus display, which has the RGB stripe display. I only recently learned that it is missing the "Plus" and is instead the old pentile SAMOLED technology, but with "HD" due to its 720x1280 resolution. This is a disappointment to me, but how do others feel about this? I'm preparing myself for the onslaught of being labelled a hater.

I am not worried about it at all. This is one of the better pentile screens you will see. Its not some Motorola screen that can't display a lot of colors and just looks terrible overall. Everyone that has used it says the screen is great.

if you check out howardforums.com review of the galaxy nexus, you can clearly see in the comparison photo between the galaxy nexus' 1280x720 HD Super AMOLED Pentile display vs the Super AMOLED Plus display of the Galaxy SII, that the Galaxy Nexus' pentile screen is much clearer, sharper, and displays a higher resolution. the 316ppi are pretty evident here.

My Galaxy Nexus Review

Only Samsung makes PenTile screens, they supply Motorola. ;)

Even if that is the case they are completely different. The ones Motorola uses are completely terrible. I had no complaints about the S AMOLED screen in my Fascinate but I hate the pentile screen on the Bionic.

Motorola displays also use a different pentile matrix then the AMOLED screens.

Pentile screen on Motorola is LCD with RGBW pixel structure. It sacrifices vivid color, clarity for better brightness, especially white. Moto switched to pentile qHD SAMOLED on Razr for better clarity and color. But then some Moto fans seem to complain on reduced white brightness though. So it's always trade-off.

From the early hands-on reviews so far, it looks like Samsung has dialed down color saturation a little in HD SAMOLED on Nexus. I like it because it's more natural looking color than SAMOLED on other samsung phones while retaining all other goodies of SAMOLED.

I have the atrix 4g that has the pen-tile screen and it doesn`t bother me, yeah sometimes you can see the little dots, but most time you don`t, so no, I`m not worried.:) plus it a LCD screen, from what I have seen from the reviews its way better than what I have now

I agree, I have the Atrix too and while it has been okay, I am psyched for the GN's screen!

Local Moderator OfTheDamned had a hands-on today and reported the screen as being superior even to that of the ReZound.
