Help Any GENERAL Bluetooth Problems (pairing issues, distortion, etc)

I paired my LTEVO successfully with my 2012 Subaru Impreza. But it wouldn't play the music through the car. And my music would disappear when bluetooth is on. So I use doubletwist to play my music which is all in .ogg format. Normally I can browse it just fine. But when I turned on bluetooth and it paired with the car, doubletwist showed nothing. Tried other players as well on the phone and they played the music but not through the car.

Subarus are junk..I say take the car back and get something better.

J/K..we have an outback and wrx, unfortunately neither have bt from the factory.

My JVC head unit has no issues with bt though, neither do my Jaybird freedom headphones.

Curious if anyone else is having issues with their Bluetooth? Cracking noises when notifications come through while Bluetooth is activated?
Yes mine is crackling when I pair it with my LG HBS 700 but only when I use it for stereo (media) playback (Music player, Pandora). For call it works great and all functions work fine. The best solution I have found for music is to turn the phone all the way up and adjust the bluetooth down to tast, this reduces the crackle volume.;)

Take care, Chris.

Can anyone post an update on their experiences with this after the OTA update is applied, I am curious if it will correct the issues found with the BT.

Thanks Chris.

On my thirty minute car ride this morning, I didn't have a single audio dropout. The previous 2-3 times I tried (prior to the OTA update), the audio would drop out consistently.

I'll test another thirty minutes, starting in about an hour's time.

Yeah having the same issue when I'm streaming music from my phone to my Monster Bluetooth speaker. I use the Volume and EQ app from the Play store and thought it was just some clipping because I set the highs too high.

I disconnected the EQ and it's a bit better, but still happens with the stock EQ presets. Doesn't seem to happen all that much when I'm streaming from Pandora, Netflix or Youtube. Haven't had any issues when I'm on the phone using my Moto my headset (H17txt).

Funny thing is that my first 4GLTE didn't have this problem. When I exchanged it for another one that's when I noticed the clipping noise.

Still having "crackling' issues after the update. Seems to be an issue only when streaming music from my SD card. Pandora, Radio Staions etc now.

I would try and get it swapped out at BB but I'm not sure they have a BT speaker lying around to demonstrate the issue on.

Well I took my Evo 4G LTE back again to BB and swapped it out. I actually almost got a SIII (hard choice) but decided to stay with the EVO. The BB associate swapped it out and again didn't charge me.

Luckily they had the new Jawbone Big Jambox sitting at the counter (pretty sweet btw) and I showed them what was going on. Got home and hooked up my Evo and the crackling was gone!!!

I get the same issues mentioned in the first post of this thread. I have the latest Jabra Talk BT headset (has A2DP), and sometimes i can go a few days without any connection problem, although it always starts to crackle when it's only 15 feet away or so. Today I could not get the Evo Lte to work as a phone, it constantly showed "connected (no phone)" under BT settings. I tried restarting the phone and turning off and on the headset to no avail. I finally got the BT working again as a phone by manually tapped the "Voice Dialer" app. I have voice dialer as the default app when i long-press the headset button. But then the voice dialer app's prompting voice is very quiet, and eventually I'm able to get the voice dialer prompting volume level back to normal. It doesn't seem to be tied to the media volume or ringer volume. The BT issue that I periodically experience may be due to something else I have installed, but I didn't have these issues with the EVO 3D. Also, with wifi, it sometimes gets to where it constantly cycles through "connecting to <router id>", and "Optaining IP address". I sometimes have to restart the router. (Edit: About a week ago, I hard reset the router, and I haven't had the wifi issue again yet...) I have the latest OTA update that came out in July 2012 also, and no rooting. Other than this, I absolutely love the HTC LTE. :) I tried the Samsung SG3 prior to this, and switched to EVO LTE with no regrets. This phone is amazing in battery life, photos, screen, etc. And I like the HTC Sync with Outlook, media, etc, because it just works!

Was the disappearance of the crackling due to the replacement Evo or the new Jawbone? Did you try the new Evo with the old BT? Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm using my phone to tether over WiFi. When I use a Bluetooth headset for listening to music on the phone, and the phone is more than 3 feet away, I find that the WiFi connection drops out. My guess is that the Bluetooth transmitter is raising its power to reach the receiver better, but that this is interfering with the WiFi signal.

Has anyone else experienced this?

When connected to my Moto bluetooth, My LTEvo started randomly turning itself off and then on. (Once when off, I noticed that the arrows next to the Bluetooth icon were off.) It can go hours without doing this OR it can seem to cycle itself several times in a short period of time.

Any thoughts??

When I connect my phone to my computer it does not download the drivers. Where can I get the drivers or how else can I fix this problem. I did this before with the original EVO and it worked great!

Audio Problems with HTC One-X and Bluetooth.

I am using the HTC One-X in Germany, using Vodaphone as a carrier, with ICS v4.0.4., and a VBT-3050 Bluetooth earpiece.

I am having a great deal of difficulty with Bluetooth, keeping in mind that the MAIN function of Bluetooth is to give the user a safe hands-free operation of the phone, mainly to facilitate driving.

1. Natively, the phone would only send phone calls to the BT device.

2. I downloaded and installed the "Bluetooth Manager ICS" App. Because of the following inconsistencies, and the numerous postings here, I suspect the problems are from the OS and not the App, problems are intermittent, erratic, and sometimes hard to duplicate sometimes, but namely:

a). Bluetooth connectivity is lost any time I press the HOME key to exit a program (the sound reverts to the phone speaker, I must re-pair the BT device, not convenient when driving a car)...some programs such as Endomondo must be left running in the background to track my bicycle/running routes using GPS in real-time. Most Apps that you exit by selecting "Exit" seem to allow the BT device to keep receiving the audio stream.

b) If an App such as Endomondo (or others) direct the user to the settings screen (to activate the GPS which is mandatory for the program), the sound is lost on the BT device and reverts back to the Speaker.

c. Tune-In Radio only sends audio to the BT device IF I have Wi-Fi turned off, why is this significant? Yes, I agree that when in the car one does not need wi-fi, but what about the person using Wi-Fi at home to get faster speed for syncing photos, etc, while listening to Tune-In Radio over the BT device? This is not Tune-In Radio's problem as I would expect the OS to manage such mundane settings as audio and BT connectivity.

c) WinAmp, sometimes I must turn on the BT first, then launch WinAmp to get audio to the BT device.....sometimes I must launch WinAmp first, then turn on BT, no consistency here so it is difficult to isolate.

Suggestions to HTC for the next release of ICS.....

1. Bluetooth is used primarily for safe hands-free operation of cars! Keep this in mind and all following suggestions make sense.

2. The OS should CONTROL all audio going to the BT device in order to facilitate prime-directve (step 1 above). Thus, the OS will NEVER allow any APP or timeout feature to disconnect the BT device (assuming the BT device is in range). The OS BT management will be like a an American Pit Bull Terrier, hanging on to the "throat" of the BT device until it dies, OR the user actively disconnects the BT device.

3. The OS should have options to send ALL audio to the paired BT device, OR allow the user to select which Apps will send audio to the BT device.

4. If the operator selects BT ON, the OS should set priority for audio for ingoing and outgoing calls to HIGH and suspend all other audio from going to the BT device during a phone call. Upon completion of the call the OS should revert to sending the Audio from the App that was running BEFORE the phone call, back to the BT device.

5. At No time should the OS allow the phone to send audio to the speaker upon lost connection to the BT device. This is what is especially irritating, pressing the HOME key, or going to the phone settings only to have loud audio sent to the phone speaker in a confined area, an office, on public transportation, in a sauna, etc. IF the BT connection is lost, the phone should simply quit sending sound ANYWHERE, thus the user has time to react and shut down the audio App, adjust the volume BEFORE allowing sound to go to the phone speaker or some better option I have not thought of.

My suggestions are sound, reasonable, and FREE!

I bought a 2011 Venza last night and have tried to pair the two. the phone is not showing any other devices. I turned the phone on and off visible, searched, and had 3 other people try it. I came back to my orginal headset that has paired in the past and now it not showing up to pair. I have even tried to reset the phone...nothing...any ideas?

On some cars you need to have the emergency brake engaged and/or be in park and stopped for BT pairing to work. (you might already know this but it's worth mentioning)

The issue I have with BT now is the new voicemail app no longer plays sound through my BT connection. Music streaming and the phone work fine but when I play a voicemail there is silence and nothing comes out of the phone speaker either. I have to disconnect the phone from BT and listen to the VM's through the phone speaker. This worked just fine on pre JB. Any ideas?

This started happening recently and it's driving me bonkers. I'm on a call, using either bluetooth or the speakerphone, and the phone decides to turn them off. The call doesn't drop but I have to lift to my ear to continue talking. I can select speakerphone/bluetooth and it'll go back but it can and does switch it off again. This happens randomly, there's no set timer that makes it happen. Sometimes It'll happen 30 seconds into a call, sometimes it'll won't happen at all. I just got off a 40 minute phone call and it switched from speakerphone to the phone about 5 times.

I searched for this online and didn't find anything. Have any of you had to deal with this issue?

Are you rooted?
Do you have the latest updates from sprint?
What blue tooth device are you using?
Did you install or uninstall a program prior?

Use a screen protector or case?

Not rooted
I have all the latest updates
bluetooth car audio, a Toyota Corolla, 2012.
I've installed and uninstalled a lot of apps, can't pinpoint which one would be responsible :/
I don't use a screen protector but do use a soft silicone rubbber case however this problem started maybe 4 days ago and I've had the case for a month or so now.

Other than factory reset,

Do a sim pull which is pressing the power button until the phone reboots. This does not delete any info, just mimics a battery pull.

You can also send HTC a trouble ticket so they are aware.

How long have you had the phone and how long has it been paired to your car? Seems something has changed. Are you playing music from your phone when you make these calls?

In the end it comes down to the blue tooth stack on the HU and it's compatibility with the device.

Hey gang - I've been looking into this for a bit, but figured I might turn to the community to see if there's any collective knowledge that might help me out.

I'm a Bluetooth junkie - I generally use my phone to connect to my car stereo [some Sony unit] and then, at home, to a new Bose Soundlink. Out of the box, my EVO LTE was rock solid with pairing and connectivity - every now and again, I'd have a hiccup, but nothing bad.

I've since rooted my device - SOFF - and currently running a custom ROM [PAC MAN], which I've had on my device for awhile now. After performing all of these rooting procedures, Bluetooth worked as it always had. I'd also note, my device is up-to-date with firmwares and what not.

Seemingly out of nowhere, my device stopped making solid and consistent Bluetooth connections. I did all of the basic troubleshooting things that have served me well in the past - everything from unpairing and repairing, to reboots, to manual connects - all with inconsistent results. I even flashed a stock ROM and a couple of other ROMS - bluetooth acts the same. Sometimes I connect...other times, nothing. Sometimes, if I can coax it to connect, it will disconnect on its own. Other times, it's fine.

This is where it gets strange. As the problem got worse, I did notice that if I ran my finger along the area just above the kickstand [on the back of the device - pressing down with some pressure], I can get a connection - almost every time.

So, questions.

Where is the physical Bluetooth radio on this device? My understanding was that the Bluetooth and WiFi radios were the same [which caused some headaches early on], but my WiFi, 3G and 4G are all rocking...no problems, not even many issues with handoffs. Sure, I'll get a data drop now and again [I'm running a custom ROM], but nothing even close to the Bluetooth issue.

I guess I'm trying to figure out if I can open the device up to fix a lose connection, or if it's possible for Bluetooth to bork [while all other radios perform fine]. Has anyone diagnosed a similar issue and resolved or improved it? Are there files I can try to replace that might help - some sort of software hack?

It would also help, maybe, to know where on the back cover [the removable part] the radio "touches" - maybe it's just a matter of adjusting how the pins touch the back cover to improve connectivity/reception? ...I'm just spit balling. I've certainly dropped my phone before, so it's possible that connection isn't being made unless there is some manipulation on my part.

The quick summary - bluetooth worked...slowly stopped connecting consistently...a physical manipulation of the device can coax a bluetooth connection. Really trying to do anything to avoid bringing it back to Sprint for a replacement. ;)

[sorry for the long post...I write a lot]

Wish I had some more answers for you. Instead here is some sparse information ;)

You may find this thread interesting as well in case you'd like to see the inner working and connections without taking your handset apart completely. It will help you identify the combo chip that handles Wifi/Bluetooth/FM Radio connectivity.

Awesome dude, thanks - that's a decent start. It gives me an idea of what we're working with hardware wise. Most folks report bluetooth sound issues, mine works perfectly...if it's able to connect. I'll read through this stuff and report back if I figure anything out. Thanks again!

Today I lost my voice dialer from BT. Pushed my earpiece button and it just gave me the failure beeps. Rebooted the phone and it's OK now. Will report if it happens aga

Just want to follow up quick. I opened the device up and didn't see anything clearly out of place. I ended up tightening down a few things and buttoning the device back up. I also messed with the contact points on the removable back cover [pulled them out a bit, to ensure a solid connection].

I have had solid and consistent bluetooth connectivity for the last week. With the phone in my pocket, it automatically connects to my stereo in my car, then to my stereo at home without any manual interaction on my part.

So, for me, definitely a hardware issue. Or, if it *was* the adjustments to the contact points, a poor design decision on HTC's part.

Now that I have some experience opening the device up, I'm thinking of swapping out the kickstand for one of the brushed versions from a white LTE. Fancy. ;)

Thanks dudes.

I have a fully compatible bluetooth accessory (Phonak ComPilot) to interface with my hearing aids and HTC EVO 4G LTE. The problem is that it randomly interrupts music and/or calls. (The audiologist told me that it is a newish model and they have not had problems with it.) I took the phone to a Sprint corporate store to check the bluetooth system and the repair technician told me there have been bluetooth problems since the last HTC software update - i.e., it is a software problem.

I called HTC and after approximately one hour on the phone, I asked to be transferred to the next level or to the software engineers. The representative on the phone told me that he could not do either unless I authorize "trying" a factory reset. I told him that since the phone is NOT rooted and I cannot make a copy of the settings and layout of the phone, I felt that a full wipe was a "shot in the dark try" and that it was excessive since more experienced persons may have less drastic answer(s) as well as recommended fixes.

Any suggestions?
