Hey gang - I've been looking into this for a bit, but figured I might turn to the community to see if there's any collective knowledge that might help me out.
I'm a Bluetooth junkie - I generally use my phone to connect to my car stereo [some Sony unit] and then, at home, to a new Bose Soundlink. Out of the box, my EVO LTE was rock solid with pairing and connectivity - every now and again, I'd have a hiccup, but nothing bad.
I've since rooted my device - SOFF - and currently running a custom ROM [PAC MAN], which I've had on my device for awhile now. After performing all of these rooting procedures, Bluetooth worked as it always had. I'd also note, my device is up-to-date with firmwares and what not.
Seemingly out of nowhere, my device stopped making solid and consistent Bluetooth connections. I did all of the basic troubleshooting things that have served me well in the past - everything from unpairing and repairing, to reboots, to manual connects - all with inconsistent results. I even flashed a stock ROM and a couple of other ROMS - bluetooth acts the same. Sometimes I connect...other times, nothing. Sometimes, if I can coax it to connect, it will disconnect on its own. Other times, it's fine.
This is where it gets strange. As the problem got worse, I did notice that if I ran my finger along the area just above the kickstand [on the back of the device - pressing down with some pressure], I can get a connection - almost every time.
So, questions.
Where is the physical Bluetooth radio on this device? My understanding was that the Bluetooth and WiFi radios were the same [which caused some headaches early on], but my WiFi, 3G and 4G are all rocking...no problems, not even many issues with handoffs. Sure, I'll get a data drop now and again [I'm running a custom ROM], but nothing even close to the Bluetooth issue.
I guess I'm trying to figure out if I can open the device up to fix a lose connection, or if it's possible for Bluetooth to bork [while all other radios perform fine]. Has anyone diagnosed a similar issue and resolved or improved it? Are there files I can try to replace that might help - some sort of software hack?
It would also help, maybe, to know where on the back cover [the removable part] the radio "touches" - maybe it's just a matter of adjusting how the pins touch the back cover to improve connectivity/reception? ...I'm just spit balling. I've certainly dropped my phone before, so it's possible that connection isn't being made unless there is some manipulation on my part.
The quick summary - bluetooth worked...slowly stopped connecting consistently...a physical manipulation of the device can coax a bluetooth connection. Really trying to do anything to avoid bringing it back to Sprint for a replacement.

I tried the Samsung SG3 prior to this, and switched to EVO LTE with no regrets. This phone is amazing in battery life, photos, screen, etc. And I like the HTC Sync with Outlook, media, etc, because it just works!
