Any Gun owners out there?

I still can't stop thinking of any rifle, assault or hunting, as a long range means of defense. Does that make me weird?
Any life threatening danger I expect to be in would be up close and personal.
Not that I'm in to that or anything.
Both times I've had a gun purposely pointed at me they were pistols.

A 762x39 or 556 is effective both up close and 75-100yd and beyond.
A pistol usually is only effective for 40yd.
The exception (in semi) being 357 Sig, has a little more reach

I think if I'm suddenly confronted with a life or death situation a handgun would be my preference. If I'm hanging out at my house and hear something go bump in the night, I prefer an AR or shotgun.

My $0.02, deposit the change with your favorite panhandler.

It takes more time to bring a long gun onto target in close range combat. I far prefer a pistol for such situations. There is also the problem of bullet travel beyond target that could be a problem with a .556 round. However, with that said, a one gun scenario would likely be best served by an AR 15 or something similar. From hunting to defense it will far out shine a pistol of any caliber.

I carry a 9mm or a 45 at all times. It's just part of me. My AR is in the safe. 12 gauge pump is beside my bed. I'm not paranoid but I am prepared. The AR is part of my survival plan, not my choice of first line defense.

I'm thinking of getting a 12x0.5' plate to hang between some trees in the back, for rifle practice. My buddy brings over an SKS we tear up a bit and was thinking the plate would be a decent idea vs tumble targets that get awfully tiny after 70'

I'm all sorts of jealous. Shooting in open area runs at a premium around here and I live in a sparsely populated area. Land owners are butt sore from people abusing the privilege to use their land so most say no.:( Can't blame them really. To find an area where it is safe around here and you can gain access is difficult.

Question.. When an SKS mag spring goes ejecting from the base, how far away should I be looking? Can't find it anywhere in a 15' radius.. 😂😂

It has to be easier to find than a AR detent pin. :) I shot one across the room and spent hours looking for it. I finally broke down and order two more. More hassle than cost. Upon receiving the pins I replaced my spring and put in the new detent pin. When I went to put the AR in the safe... I find the missing detent pin just laying in the carpet just in front of the safe. ... go figure.

Good luck with your search.

M60 versus Ma Duece

An average big guy can hold up and sort of accurately fire with an M60. Standing up and firing a Ma Duece is to heavy for that right?
Dude would have to be a giant to do that.

Incoming chinese mak 90.
Itll have a proper stock very soon.
Now all i need is a hungarian and ill have all countries represented. Well except egypt. Those aint nothing special

It's a "Great Leap Forward".

That stock looks like it was built for someone in particular. Pretty sweet, but black mahogany would look cooler.
Thats a ban era stock installed to bypass importation restrictions. Other evil features like threaded muzzles and bayonet lugs were eliminated but can be re-installed if enough US parts are installed.
